    Salus University is seeking a skilled professional to fill the position of Full Time Healthcare Financial Operations Analyst. 

    PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Responsibilities include coordination and monitoring of the revenue cycle, financial reporting for The Eye Institute (TEI) and Pennsylvania Ear Institute (PEI), serve as a liaison with outsourced financial services vendors (including: billing, coding and collections) and prepare and distribute monthly operational and financial reports. Primary contact for General Vision Services (GVS).

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: As the Healthcare Financial Operations Analyst, this individual will be responsible for preparing monthly financial data for the financial statement preparation, statistical reports (eg: strategic analysis, profitability, financial analysis, utilization patterns), and coordinating the preparation and review of departmental operation reports. This individual will also monitor the activity of the patient accounts, billing functions and the activity of the front line staff involved in the revenue cycle. They will develop long- and short-term objectives to manage the financial aspects of the clinical operations through each accounting cycle in alignment with established policies and strategic plans. This individual will review all factors affecting revenues, billing service, front office procedures, as well as coding and charge capture. They will make recommendations for continuous improvement and meet on a scheduled basis to review processes, collections, and denials and implement improvements. Another responsibility of the Healthcare Financial Operations Analyst is this individual will monitor claim edit and denial trends. They will initiate and implement corrective actions or improvements indicated as a result of internal or external reviews or communications. They will ensure compliance with any relevant operational requirements of insurance and managed care contracts. This individual will also verify GVS billing, coding, charges, and billed collections. They will then report accordingly with appropriate solutions if/when needed. As the Healthcare Financial Operations Analyst, the individual will maintain financial and Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) files, monitor Holding Tank for erroneous charges, update fee schedules and contracts, and coordinate with Ceresoft and NextGen (electronic health record) system. Another responsibility includes evaluating collections and investigate instances of low reimbursement or other sensitive issues (e.g., inappropriate A/R, chronic missing charges, high rates of denial, etc.). This individual will support both the Philadelphia Ear Institute as well as The Eye Institute billing and A/R management and resolve patient billing and/or statement issues on site. The Healthcare Financial Operations Analyst will work with management to develop goals and standards of excellent that are consistent with Salus University values, mission, strategic plans and annual priority plans. They will clearly communicate departmental goals and standards to staff and assist with training when necessary. This individual will also demonstrate and actively embrace the mission, values and service guidelines of the organization in all interactions with clinicians, staff, patients, visitors and all customers. They will create and maintain a culture that does the same and exhibit service-oriented behavior at all times.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Finance, Economics, Math, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field. In lieu of degree, ten or more years’ experience in healthcare finance may be accepted.
    • Knowledge of revenue cycle business processes, accounting principles, and billing and collection practices. 
    • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in ambulatory clinical finance.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.

    SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with clinicians, staff, other departments, and internal and external customers with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
    • Demonstrated analytical and financial skills
    • Experience with health insurance provider networks
    • Excellent verbal, and written communication and critical thinking skills.
    • Self-motivated, highly organized, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deliverables.
    • Experience working in provider relations is strongly preferred.
    • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

     

    OTHER PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Masters' Degree in Finance, Economics, Math, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
    • Active membership/certification in healthcare and/or clinical practice leadership professional organization. 
    • Proven knowledge of EHR system functionality
