The Commercial Portfolio Analyst is responsible for the accuracy of risk analysis and grading; timely monitoring of the receipt and proper analysis of financial information provided by the borrower; and timely completion of credit requests for commercial relationships.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists Loan Officers in the continuous monitoring and management of new loan opportunities, renewals, modifications, annual or interim reviews, Watch Loan Reports, risk ratings, loan covenants, collateral monitoring and review (Borrower Certificates, real estate appraisals, equipment appraisals, environmental reviews), exceptions (financial, documentation, etc), and financial spreads.
Assists Loan Officers in the client management process and in the development of appropriate relationship strategies - Meets with and calls on clients where appropriate to discuss lending and cross-selling opportunities, negotiate loan terms, discuss and request financial information, and gather other information pertinent to making sound lending decisions.
Assists Loan Officers in loan servicing and loan closing processes – Works with loan closing group to ensure timely delivery and execution of accurate loan documentation. Works with the servicing group to effectively address issues that arise with regard to loan payments, escrow accounts, etc.
Prepares high quality loan presentations and ensure accuracy of financial and other analyses – Analyzes rent rolls, leases, operating statements, tax returns, personal financial statements, and other related material in preparing global cash flow analyses, property cash flow analyses, sensitivity analyses, market research, and other related analyses.
Offers opinions concerning creditworthiness while identifying proper loan structure and pricing. Assigns credit ratings based on a thorough risk assessment of the request and/or existing loan. Recommends changes to loan terms and structure, loan covenants, guarantor and collateral structure, risk ratings, etc. Identifies need for additional collateral/rebalancing of loans, updated appraisals/evaluations, updated financial statements, etc.
Stays abreast of lending activities, competition, and economic conditions to ensure the bank’s programs keep a competitive edge in the market.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor degree with business, finance, or related major from an accredited four year college or university is required. Experience in commercial loan underwriting and documentation is a plus. Demonstrated effective use of Excel and other MS Office products is required. Experience with Baker Hill software is a plus.
