    JOB SUMMARY:

    The iDeas Lab, the award-winning creative and digital production department at CSIS, seeks a highly motivated and creative self-starter to join our dynamic and fast-paced environment as a Multimedia Producer starting immediately. (This is a mid-level position.)

     

    The iDeas Lab enhances CSIS's policy analysis with the latest in cutting-edge web development, design, audio, and video. The multimedia producer will partner with our experts and the department on a range of video and podcast projects covering the spectrum of CSIS’ issue areas. The producer will also support the CSIS journalism bootcamp, including to serve as the mentor for the audio team. The position will also support other occasional executive education efforts with multimedia components. This is an ideal opportunity for entrepreneurial audio and video storytellers who are eager to bring complex policy issues to life across multiple platforms.

     

    Beyond having strong experience with all aspects of audio and video production, the successful candidate will have experience in multimedia journalism and possess sharp news acumen, excellent writing/editorial skills, communication and organization skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and innovative environment while meeting tight deadlines. Additionally, the successful candidate will be a team player while also having independent self-direction.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead, produce, and develop audio projects from start to finish, including scripting, recording, editing, compiling, finding supplementary audio assets, and all other aspects of production for narrative policy-oriented podcasts. • Lead, produce, and develop video projects from start to finish, including scripting, filming, editing, compiling, developing visual/audio assets, and all other aspects of production for narrative policy-oriented storytelling videos. • Support the CSIS Journalism Bootcamp, including serving as a mentor to the audio team, supporting the multimedia project deliverables, and assist with planning and execution. • Work closely with relevant departments and research programs to develop and produce multimedia for CSIS projects to suit stated goals and needs; communicating effectively with non-technical stakeholders is critical. • Support and mentor students with multimedia projects as part of other CSIS executive education efforts. • Other duties and projects as needed

     

    KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

    • B.A./B.S/A.B. in relevant field; • Minimum three years of relevant experience, including journalism and multimedia production experience; • Knowledge and experience in applicable software and computer applications, including Adobe Creative Suite, audition, and WordPress; • Some background in multimedia journalism; • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; including effectively presenting information to non-technical partners, operating in a fast-paced environment and managing competing priorities; • Strong attention to detail, initiative, and follow through skills; • Flexible, positive, collaborative, action-oriented attitude and professional approach; • Interest in global affairs and public policy; • Sound judgement, maturity, and discretion.

    • Operate powered equipment such as motorized carts, lift tailgates, compactors, forklifts, and our bin washing station.

    • Provide proper maintenance and upkeep of trash bin stations, trash bins, and areas around the disposal site.

    • Perform daily trash removal and dispose of as directed

    • Pick up loose debris found in water and in land

    • Secure full trash bins that are not needed to avoid trash to get soiled inside and out

    • Drive golf cart and use it to pick up bulky items. Cart must be kept clean and ready 24/7.

    • Report any cart issues immediately to avoid excessive down time
