  • Responsibilities

    Take your love for programming and turn it into a fun and rewarding summer experience! TechKnowHow, a leader in tech-focused classes for students, is looking for individuals to teach Python and Java(Processing) classes to motivated students, ages 10-15. The curriculum begins with projects that introduce students to computer science and builds to students coding their own arcade games.

    We’ll train you on how to teach the curriculum, lead team-building activities, and manage the classroom. If you love programming and kids, we want you to join our team to equip young people with the tools and ability to create awesome projects with tech.

    Lead Instructor Position:

    Under the direction of the Director, this position manages the weekly program for approximately 20 students, including the curriculum, and supervision of indoor and recess/lunch activities. The lead instructor also directs the activities of the assistant. The ideal candidate has experience teaching or working with student groups, along with Python and related programming skills.

    Assistant Instructor Position:

    Under the direction of the Lead Instructor and Director, this position involves assisting the Lead Instructor in teaching the curriculum, helping students with projects, and assisting in lunch and recess supervision. Assistants should have some experience working with or coaching children, along with Python or related programming skills.

    Training & Schedule:

    Candidates must be available for training prior to the start of camp, including an orientation on the first weekend in June. Candidates must commit to a set weekly schedule of at least 4 weeks and be available to work over-time when needed.

    Essential Duties:

    • Lead and/or assist a group of students in specific camp programs and activities, including teaching, guiding and helping students with projects.

    • Insure the safety and well-being of all campers assigned to your classroom.

    • Set-up classroom on Monday mornings and pack-up classroom on Friday.

    • Supervise outdoor break and lunchtime activities.

    • Ensure that camp activities are running smoothly and advise the Director of any issues.

    • Perform other duties as deemed necessary for successful execution of programs

  • Qualifications

    Required education:

    • Currently pursuing or has completed computer science or related college degree

    Required experience:

    • Experience with Python or similar programming language: 1 year
