  • Responsibilities

    Stage Manager wanted for our summer camp musical theater program. Responsibilities include overseeing 6 shows over the course of 7 weeks. The Stage Manager works closely with a creative and production team which includes a theater director, theater tech, costumer, choreographer and a music director. Together the team is involved at all stages of the process, from selecting the plays to be produced to their design and pre-production through to the final performance.

    The ideal candidate will have experience as a Stage Manager in a theater as well as working with children. This is a perfect opportunity for somebody who wants to build their portfolio, and being a part of an amazing summer camp community and on a beautiful lake in Maine.

    Camp Walden is a traditional girls summer camp in Denmark, ME. Walden prides itself on creating an atmosphere which encourages self-confidence, promotes leadership skills, and provides a trusting and secure environment where girls can thrive. One tradition at Walden is that with their age group all of our campers participate in the production of one musical theater production each summer.

    Dates: June 10 to August 14, 2021. Compensation is $2200 - $2800 for the summer plus room, board, a travel allowance and laundry. The position will remain open until filled.

    Essential Functions of the Stage Manager Position:

    1. Assist with the selection of the summer Bunk Shows
    2. Attend and participate in weekly production meetings
    3. Assist the Director with casting
    4. Create the weekly plan for the production of each show, and assist in execution of the plan
    5. Communicate with the costume designer and set technician about costume, lighting and sound needs during rehearsals
    6. Coordinate scene changes
    7. Assist the Director of the HHC in overseeing logistics of the performances
    8. Keep HHC clean, along with other members of the HHC team
    9. All other responsibilities as needed and assigned.

    We are the Parent Trap camp! Annie and Hallie were Walden campers and their parents directed the film and chose to base the camp around their daughters' experience at Walden.
