    This is a part-time position in security work that involves all facets of maintaining a safe college and campus environment for students, staff and community. 

     

     DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES, WORKING WHATEVER SHIFT NECESSARY:

    1. Patrolling campus on foot, bicycle, and in a vehicle to maintain traffic control for parking, driving, and pedestrians.
    2. Maintaining security in all buildings by performing the following duties:
    3. Locking and unlocking buildings.
    4. Patrolling inside of all buildings at least daily, watching for mechanical problems while on patrol, and checking any unusual sounds or abnormal conditions in any building.
    5. Making use of computer software to create reports, monitor alarm systems, and controlling heating/AC in rooms in use across campus.
    6. Checking and maintaining assigned fire extinguishers and emergency lighting.
    7. Responding to all fire alarms, traffic accidents, and emergencies.      
    8. Conducting investigation when appropriate and requested by supervisor.
    9. Preparing and files required crime and accident reports at appropriate times.
    10. Assisting on campus in any capacity where Security expertise will benefit the campus and the department.
    11. Following College policies and procedures and CSI code of conduct.
    12. Other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills

     

    • Must be able to pass criminal history reference check without any felonies. _YOU WILL BE ASKED TO FILL OUT A PERSONAL HISTORY STATEMENT ALONG WITH TAKING A POLYGRAPH TEST. _
    • Must possess valid driver's license and good driving record.
    • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively with coworkers and customers.
    • Must be motivated, self-disciplined and able to control one’s own actions.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding, to carry out tasks.
    • Must maintain a high level of professional ethics and integrity in dealing with confidential information and with general nature of services provided.
    • Work and interact effectively with colleagues, staff, students, administrators and others of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
    • Develop and maintain courteous, professional and effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff and the public.
    • Show respect for the opinions of others and behave in such a way as to ensure an atmosphere of respect and trust.
    • Must adapt, with minimal or no advance notice, to changes in how business is conducted and work is accomplished.
    • Must be able to use sound judgment to deal effectively with problems
    • Basic computer skills.

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Must be physically able to perform the major functions of the job including driving a security vehicle, riding a bicycle, walking frequently, and climbing stairs.
