    The Vice President, Human Resources will report directly to the CEO and will serve as a key member of the senior leadership team and engage the Board of Directors through providing visionary leadership and progressive direction on all aspects of the human resources function including talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, development, talent (performance) management, succession planning, employee engagement and HR strategy implementation.

     

    Additionally, s/he will provide executive level leadership, development and guidance to the top-performing HR team with the ability to build out and grow the HR organization as needed. S/he will champion cross-functional collaboration and cultivate and nurture corporate culture.

     

    This role will be based out of our Basking Ridge, New Jersey or The Woodlands, Texas location.

     

    KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

    • STRATEGIC HUMAN RESOURCES PARTNER: Establishes and leads the strategic direction for the HR team, including talent acquisition and retention, succession planning, compensation and benefits, development, talent management, and HR compliance; develops strategies to proactively engage leadership in creating a high-performing culture and drive increasing positive employee engagement; provide consultative services to business leadership on a variety of issues related to employee relations - i.e., coaching, managing conflict, addressing performance and behavior concerns, talent planning, succession planning and other programs facilitating the integration of culture and people.

    • ORGANIZATIONAL CAPABILITY: Partners with the CEO and senior leadership team to nurture and advance the Company culture; develops programs to facilitate optimal performance of employees and ensures that current and future leadership requirements to grow the organization are met, beginning with senior leadership; engages with the CEO and BOD to develop succession planning of key roles.

    • EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP: Serves as a role model of corporate values; ensures proactive communication of vision, mission, strategy, goals and direction to the organization; remains abreast of industry trends and communicates meaningful insights regarding trends; successfully aligns strategic and tactical business plans with a practical and effective HR agenda; establishes credibility with employees across all levels of the organization and consults with senior management regarding key organizational issues.

    • TEAM LEADERSHIP: Leads, develops and nurtures a top performing Human Resources team; fosters professional development; delivers ongoing coaching and performance feedback.

    • INCLUSIVITY: Implements programs and Company policies which foster a diverse and inclusive culture; champions and fosters a culture of innovation, respect, transparency, collaboration, empowerment, accountability and integrity and which allows all employees to feel appreciated, included, and valued.

    • TOTAL REWARDS: Partners with the head of Total Rewards to provide competitive and compelling total rewards programs and provides support as needed; works with third party executive compensation advisor(s) and senior management to develop, administer, and implement executive compensation programs; attends Compensation Committee meetings (as needed) and presents materials including executive compensation recommendations.

    • TALENT ACQUISITION: Works with the leadership team to develop organizational staffing strategy designed to recruit and retain top caliber employees in a high-growth environment; creates programs to identify key talent within and outside the Company for mission critical positions.

    • COMPLIANCE: Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal employment laws. 

    • FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY: Develops and effectively manages the overall budget ensuring that HR costs and services are aligned with broader financial goals.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Business or Human Resources-related field preferred.
    • SHRM or HRCI certification; CEBS or CCP designation is highly desirable
    • 15+ years' Human Resources progressive leadership experience with roles increasing in scope and responsibilities including direct involvement with senior business executives in high growth environments; preferably within the Biotech, Pharmaceutical, or a related industry.
    • 10+ years in a HR senior management role leading functions (organizational development, performance management, talent acquisition and retention, compensation and benefits, change management, executive compensation, employee engagement and cultural change management) at a publicly traded company.
    • Experience as trusted advisor to the CEO and executive committee on all major organizational decisions. Track record of establishing credibility with Board of Directors, specifically in providing leadership/presenting to compensation committee preferred.
    • Successful record in leading corporate culture and values initiatives in support of corporate strategy.
    • Demonstrated competence in thinking strategically, analytically, conceptually and innovatively. Able to quickly and creatively analyze, simplify and provide solutions to complex challenges.
    • Strong leadership, planning, collaboration, project management, analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills.
    • Confident and assertive leader with high energy, drive for results, decisiveness and passion for patients.
    • Willing and able to be "hands-on"; thrives in an entrepreneurial, high-growth, fast-paced business environment.
    • Polished executive presence and superior interpersonal, communication, and organization skills (verbal, written, and presentation) to effectively address and influence all levels within and outside the Company.
    • Broad knowledge/thorough understanding of all areas of HR including applicable local, state, and federal laws associated with the administration and legal compliance of all human resources programs, systems, and practices.

     

    TRAVEL ANTICIPATED:

    Ability to travel up to 15% of the time; primarily to Lexicon offices.
