    POSITION SUMMARY

     

    The Senior Portfolio Associate brings experience, good judgment and excellent organizational skills to his or her work with multiple 1919IC Portfolio Managers and is responsible for day-to-day administrative management of individual client, institutional and trust portfolios. Senior Portfolio Associates are assigned to more complex client relationships and exercise discretion and good judgment when interacting with them, examining their portfolios for client cash and gifting needs and reviewing their financial plans. They are able to independently handle tasks and assignments related to those relationships. The Senior Portfolio Associate must stay current on financial markets and instruments and comply with firm policies and procedures.

     

    MAJOR DUTIES

     

    • Independently manages account openings, trust distributions, and account terminations which includes but is not limited to: receiving assets, obtaining cost basis, stepping up cost basis, distributing assets, handling disbursements, processing cash, delivering in-kind charitable contributions, determining appropriate paperwork and governing documents, and ensuring correct client billing.
    • Closely monitors investment portfolios for asset allocation, cash, maturities, and settlements to ensure that funds are available to clients and that portfolios are within policy. Instructing custodians to wire funds or prepare checks at the request of the client
    • Responsible for handling client's personal needs (tuition payments, outside personal accounts, family related issues, etc), and making recommendations to clients and portfolio managers after assessing each situation.
    • Proactively reviews clients’ security holdings and daily transaction activity. Coordinating with trading, operations and external advisors to ensure that positions and asset values are up to date and accurate.
    • Maintains telephone and written contact directly with clients and third parties.
    • Determines content and prepares presentation materials for existing clients and prospective client meetings. Attends client meetings as necessary.
    • Reviews, develops, maintains and delivers client facing tailored reports and communications. Testing new applications, updates and fixes.
    • Trains Portfolio Associates.
    • Updates relevant information in portfolio management and trust accounting systems.
    • Participates on committees and independently works on ad hoc projects for clients, the office or the firm.


    Required Skills

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business or related field.
    • Minimum 3 - 5 years related experience in financial services, preferably in Private Wealth Management, Portfolio Administration.
    • Proven experience work with "High-touch" client services.
    • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, the industry, the analysis and reporting of financial data, and associated terminology.
    • Knowledge and experience using analytical skills
    • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent interpersonal and communication services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
    • Highly organized, attentive to detail. Self-motivated, able to multi-task in an independent & timely manner.
    • Dependable, accurate and conscientious with a strong sense of team effectiveness.
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite especially Powerpoint, Excel, Word and Outlook is required.  FactSet, Bloomberg, Experience with Advent APX, Moxy and Trust Accounting Systems also a plus.
