    Job Description

    Job Summary
    The Student Academic Advising Assistant provides front-line support for the Academic Advising Office. This role involves administrative and customer service tasks, assisting students with resources, and supporting advising staff in their work with Augsburg students.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide general office support, including copying, filing, organizing materials, and maintaining the cleanliness of the waiting area.
    • Serve as the first point of contact for students, faculty, and staff through in-person, email, and phone reception.
    • Assist students in downloading, navigating, and scheduling appointments through the Navigate app.
    • Share information about campus resources such as drop-in advising, tutoring, and other support services.
    • Proctor placement exams, grade assessments, and enter scores accurately.
    • Respond to routine questions from students and make appropriate referrals to advisors or campus offices.
    • Serve as a liaison between the Academic Advising Office and other campus departments.
    • Contribute to special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

    Desired Weekly Schedule:

    • Weekday afternoons in 3-hour blocks

    Compensation and Benefits

    • Rate of Pay: $15.97/hour
    • Minnesota Sick and Safe Time
    • Not eligible for health insurance benefits
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Must be currently enrolled at Augsburg and eligible for Federal or Institutional Work-Study.
    • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and via email.
    • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and basic technology support.
    • Ability to work respectfully and inclusively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
    • Strong organizational skills and reliability in completing tasks on time.
    • Commitment to confidentiality and compliance with FERPA (training will be provided).
    • Familiarity with Augsburg’s curriculum, advising process, and graduation requirements (preferred but not required; training provided).
