  • Responsibilities

    In a high-volume processing environment, a financial aid advisor prepares and processes student financial aid files in multiple areas in accordance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and guidelines for the purpose of determining eligibility and awarding financial aid. Advice and counsel students and families concerning eligibility for financial aid, professional judgment, loan requirements, and special circumstances. Counsel and guide internal and external customers about financial aid processes. Present scholarship and financial aid information to audiences on and off campus. Develop, analyze, and review reports to determine eligibility for federal, state, and institutional financial aid and scholarship programs. Apply financial aid policies and procedures to process student financial aid records.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB


    • Analyzes and processes financial data on students to determine aid eligibility and make awards within federal, donor and/or institutional guidelines.
    • Requests additional information based on analysis and review to apply established government and institutional regulations, rules, guidelines, and procedures.
    • Determines eligibility for federal, state, and institutional financial aid.
    • Resolves over awards and overpayments.
    • Determines if students qualify for an unusual/mitigating circumstance; exercises professional judgment by adjusting or revisions to costs, contribution, need, or dependency status as exceptions to the prescribed process. Determines appropriate cost of attendance for students and awards federal, state, and institutional aid to financial aid recipients.
    • Uses information systems to input data.
    • Interacts with appropriate outside entities to facilitate the student eligibility process.
    • Notifies students of changes in eligibility of awards.
    • Addresses questions and requests from students, parents, or guardians in person or in writing regarding financial aid programs and eligibility.
    • Analyzes various system-generated reports such as grades and enrollment status or award status to verify continued compliance and eligibility of students receiving aid under federal and institutional guidelines.
    • Must be able to meet and maintain access requirements for secure federal and/or state websites, such as the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS)
    • Assisting students and parents in the scholarship application
    • Advising current and prospective students and families on application processes, eligibility criteria, appeals, and professional judgements.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications & Skills

    Education:

    Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience

    Experience:

    • Experience interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations, and complex policies for multiple or highly specialized programs.
    • Experience analyzing information and researching a variety of sources to identify and resolve problems or issues.
    • Experience entering and retrieving data using a computerized record system.
    • Experience compiling/maintaining data and organizing data and information into written reports.
    • Early evening and weekend hours may be required.
    • Modest local travel between campus locations may be required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in an area that involves working with student personnel, counseling, higher education, or a related field
    • Experience with student financial aid processing desired
    • Two to three years of student services experience in higher education (preferably at a community college)
    • Bilingual in Spanish
    • Knowledge of federal aid regulations and programs, and the CSI scholarship program
    • Knowledge of university/college financial aid, admissions, registration, and course work progress patterns
    • Experience with Jenzabar, PowerFaids, Excel or Access and word processing programs
    • Experience working with high school and/or college students.
    • Experience with financial aid packaging
    • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
    • Ability to work independently in completing projects.
    • Ability to work professionally with people from a wide variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
    • Previous supervisory experience in a professional setting desired.
    • Ability to present to small and large groups about Financial Aid information.
    • Good knowledge of a student centered/customer service-oriented philosophy.

  • Qualifications

    Minimum

    • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations, or Finance PLUS a minimum of 2 yrs experience in a supply chain role with direct supplier interaction.

    • In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, a high school diploma PLUS a minimum of 6 yrs experience in supply chain with direct supplier interaction may also be considered.

    • Domestic sourcing experience

    • Previous knowledge of business processes and ERP/MRP systems.

    • High level of professionalism

    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain relationships across all levels both within and outside of the organization

    • Demonstrated organizational skills

    • Demonstrated mathematical aptitude

    • Ability to work both autonomously with limited supervision and as part of a team

    • Effective verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence and maintain high levels of communication and feedback with peers, management and various stakeholders

    • Demonstrated ability to adhere to work/quality procedures to ensure quality system compliance and high-quality work

    Preferred:

    • B.S. in Supply Chain Management or Logistics Management

    • 3-5 years experience in Sourcing and Supply Chain in a medical device manufacturing company.

    • Expert knowledge of SAP

    • Knowledgeable in Supply Chain requirements of ISO 13485

    • Contract preparation and negotiation experience

    • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of quality policy/system expectations.

    • ISM and or APICS certified

    Other:

    • Each commodity assignment has characteristics that require different tactics, and the position requires the ability to read each situation and act accordingly.

    • The position requires relationship building with both internal and external process stakeholders and indirectly managed resources.

    • This position requires that action is taken when a supplier problem threatens the company’s continuity of supply. The individual in this position must be resourceful and committed to protecting the company's interests by balancing both short-term and long-term requirements.

    • Mental demands – work is detail oriented, often with multiple priorities. The environment is deadline sensitive and may be exposed to high-pressure situations.

    • Limited travel, up to 10%, may be required

    **Compensation & Total Rewards: **

    Estimated Starting Salary Range: $75,000.00 – $94,000.00
