    Job Description

    The Information Systems Specialist supports staff and student networks for the College, including maintaining and troubleshooting both hardware and software problems. Provides training in the use of software applications and computer usage to students and employees. This position reports to the Corporate Director of Information Systems.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Windows system administration (user account management, security management, e-mail systems including e-mail web server, internet access, office systems and applications support)
    • Supports servers, network equipment, desktop/laptop hardware and software, desk phones
    • Implements hardware and software to ensure optimal deployment of resources
    • Installs, configures, and maintains computers across multiple locations using imaging/cloning software
    • Provides training in the use of software applications and computer usage to students and employees
    • Prioritizes and resolved issues as reported via IT ticketing system or by phone
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

    • Must have a strong dedication to customer service
    • Knowledge of current Microsoft Desktop Operating Systems (Windows 7 & 10)
    • Knowledge of current Microsoft Server Operating Systems (Windows Server 2012, 2016, & 2019)
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (2010, 2013, & 2016)
    • Basic knowledge of Firewalls
    • Basic knowledge of network switches
    • Basic knowledge of Wi-Fi access points
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Server
    • Knowledge of cloning or imaging software
    • Must demonstrate a good phone presence and ability to resolve support issues over the phone
    • Must be able to complete tasks with little or no supervision
    • Must be able to push and/or pull up to 50lbs. Must be able to step and down a ladder to install and/or maintain data cabling and network equipment
    • Some local travel is required. Must have access to a reliable transportation

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCe

    • Associates Degree in Information Systems/Networking or equivalent experience
    • Professional certifications as appropriate
    • Have a minimum of one to three years of related wok experience
    • Microsoft Certification is a plus
    • Cisco Catalyst Switch experience is a plus
    • Watchguard Firewall experience is a plus
