  • Responsibilities

    Hands-On Technology Education, LLC (HOTE) seeks to provide safe, engaging, and balanced STEAM-based summer activities for elementary, middle, and high-school students with a focus on introducing Technology and Computer Engineering in fun and interactive ways.

    Candidates for this job posting will be current (or just graduating) COLLEGE STUDENTS who bring enthusiasm for working with students, bring experience in facilitating or completing introductory level STEAM projects for the K-12 demographic and be excited about training for and implementing some or all of HOTE Technology Adventure Themes & Core STEAM curriculum (handsontecheducation.com) .

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Facilitate or Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers throughout the camp in order to meet the intended camper outcomes.
    • Participate in the development and implementation of program activities for campers within the mission and outcomes.
    • Educate campers through curriculum, games and explorations
    • Lead recreational and educational activities (such as swimming, caving or crafting)
    • Escort and oversee children
    • Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior.
    • Attend employee-training programs and other training/meetings as directed.

    Training:

    • Prior to camp, instructors will receive training in Computer Science & Electrical Engineering concepts and activities targeting K-12 students. Satisfactory completion of training is required for all camp instructors, counselors, and volunteers.

    Qualifications and Skills

    One of the following:

    1. Valid teaching certification/credential at the K-12 levels,
    2. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Psychology or a Science-related field, and/or
    3. Current collegiate student with completed coursework in Science, Engineering, Education, Psychology or a STEAM-related field
    • Willingness and enthusiasm to be trained to facilitate introductory workshops in Technology Adventure Themes: Virtual Reality, Sustainable Agriculture, Robotics, e-Sports, Tech Entrepreneurship, etc.
    • [Plus] Current college students with collegiate Major in STEAM related field
    • [Plus] Projects/experience completed in Summer Camp Themes
    • [Plus] Prior experience in Core STEAM activities: Programming/Coding (Computer Science) or Engineering
    • Ability to work collaboratively via Google Online Suite: Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.
    • Experience completing introductory STEAM projects targeted for the elementary, middle, or high-school levels.
    • Experience teaching/leading school-aged children in hands-on activities
    • Must be able to obtain or become certified in First Aid/CPR.
    • Must submit a health history record and examination form prior to the first day of work.
    • Ability to interact with all age levels.
    • Prior experience working with children in a classroom, camp and/or workshop environment is preferred.
    • Ability to speak fluently in Spanish is a plus.

    Job Types: Part-time, Contract

    Salary: $16.00 - $30.00 per hour

    Schedule: Monday to Friday

    • Classroom Management or Workshop Facilitating: 1 year (Preferred)
    • After-School or Summer Enrichment Activities: 1 year (Preferred)
    • Youth Supervision / Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)
    • Coding (Class Projects or Teaching): 1 year (Preferred)

    License/Certification:

    • First Aid Certification (Preferred)
    • CPR Certification (Preferred)
