    OPS SIMULATION TECHNICIAN

    LOCATION:                    Ghazvini Center for Healthcare Education

     

    DIVISION/SECTION:      Healthcare Professions Division/ Simulation Center

     

    HIRING SALARY:           $10.35 -$24.87 per hour (salary commensurate with experience)

     

    HOURS:                          Up to 25 hours a week; Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.

    The Simulation Technician will work as part of a team to implement simulation training designed to enhance student learning and promote safety and quality in healthcare. Under the guidance and supervision of the simulation manager, simulation coordinator, and various faculty members, the simulation technician will provide technical and mechanical support for various interdisciplinary healthcare simulations and provide administrative support as needed in the management of student simulation experiences as directed. This includes preparation/set-up of human patient simulators prior to scheduled simulation sessions, clean-up afterwards, and other duties to maintain orderly and optimal function of the simulation center to provide an environment that is conducive to learning and supports the student success. 

     

    MAJOR FUNCTION: Assists with setting up and cleanup of simulation environment prior and after the simulation sessions. Assist in programming simulators and running simulation equipment during simulations including computer hardware, props, EHR, human patient simulators and audio-visual systems. Developing technical proficiency with all aspects of operation, maintenance support, trouble shooting and repair for all equipment. Troubleshooting equipment failure. Coordinating transport of simulation equipment as necessary. Conduct inventory of supplies. Assist with data entry for various record keeping. Create moulage and any other needed materials for the simulation sessions as outlined in the scenarios’ checklists.

     

    MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENT. Technical diploma/certificate or Associate degree in technology or health-related field is preferred. Experience in healthcare and/or direct patient care is preferred.

     

    PREFERENCE:  Preference will be given to candidates with at least one (1) year experience on high-fidelity simulation training, multimedia equipment, and/or experience with different types of medical equipment.  Computer proficiency in PC and Mac-based software applications is also a plus.

    EDUCATION

    REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree

    PREFERRED: ABET accredited engineering undergraduate degree or ABET accredited graduate STEM degree.

     

    SKILLS

    PREFERRED:      

    • Relevant core and advanced certifications as established/required per local, national and international industry standards or as necessitated by performance expectations associated with level of appointment
    • Experience in the development, planning, and coordination of processes, tracking tools, and checklist(s), for direct implementation on all SATAF/PIO actions.
    • Knowledge and understanding of national, DoD, and U.S. Air Force statutory and regulatory policies, directives, and procedures relating to logistics and operations activities.
    • Ability to gather, assemble, and analyze facts, draw conclusions, conduct analysis, devise recommended solutions, and package the entire process in briefings, papers, or reports suitable for executive use and decision-making
    • Skill in oral communications necessary to inform the leadership of program changes, to make presentations to management of a complex nature, and to lead and serve effectively on process teams
    • Skill in written communications to allow effective articulation of assigned tasks and publication of new and updated products
    • Experience navigating NIPR and SIPR type IT systems
    • Must be able to work in a team environment and independently with limited supervision all while developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships.

     

    TRAVEL

    Travel as required to support AFGSC/A5F.
