Great Work Environment
We are seeking an energetic and experienced Teacher to join our team! As a Teacher, you will lead a small group of 8 students through a short-term program, implementing a comprehensive educational curriculum. Your goal is to create an exciting, welcoming learning environment and provide students with the tools they need to reach their full potential. The ideal candidate is compassionate, creative, and has a passion for teaching!
Responsibilities:
Ensures class materials are at the site and available for instruction at least 15 minutes before students arrive.
Teaches students in small class settings using the “Ace it!” Tutoring program.
Attends “Ace it!” training session. Teacher will receive $50 for completing the training session.
Demonstrates knowledge of the “Ace it!” Tutoring program.
Greets students and exhibits a personal interest in them as individuals, and is aware of students’ special interests.
Records scores, attendance and motivation score promptly. Month end scores MUST be recorded by the 5th of the next month.
Interacts with students as they work with instructional materials. Keeps students motivated, making sure that ALL students are actively participating in every part of every lesson.
Manages attendance and student progress in Teacher Lesson Manual and “Ace it!” Technology System after each class session. Encourages 100% attendance. $150 bonus will be paid for 90% for at least 90% attendance.
Monitors token tracker pages daily and tracks and fills out token charts before spending days.
Students receive 100 extra tokens for each 15 hour segment in which perfect attendance is achieved.
Praises and encourages students with sincere enthusiasm and specific, directed praise.
Encourage the development of students’ critical thinking skills
Rewards students with tokens, immediately, for working hard, trying their best, participation and completing assignments. Ensures tokens are entered in Token Tracker at the end of instructional hour.
Communicates students’ needs of club needs to the “Ace it!” Tutoring program manager.
Keeps management informed of student progress.
Maintains site order by seeing that all students at the table are supervised and engaged in constructive learning.
At the end of each session:
Ensures that students leave the site promptly and safely.
Puts all materials in cart and stores cart in a designated, secure location.
Maintains a positive attitude and demonstrates enthusiasm and passion for the job and for Sylvan.
Manages student attendance issues with the Ace It program manager.
Maintains each student’s complete record of information in the “Ace it!” Technology System.
Maintains site order, personal professional appearance and the professional appearance of the program sites.
Uses available teacher resources such as: manuals, fellow teachers, site program manager and Center Director.
At the end of the program:
Records all scores immediately.
Prepares final reports.
Gives students student manual to take home.
Packs up teacher manuals, unused student manuals, marker boards and manipulatives in cart to be returned to “Ace it!
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher and state teaching certification
Previous experience teaching at the k-12 level is preferred
Understanding of child development principles and best practices in education and classroom management
Knowledge of classroom health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and ability to closely adhere to the guidelines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
