Hours may vary based on operational needs. Job Type Temporary Campus Syracuse, NY Unionized Position Code Not Applicable Job Description The Bookstore is seeking experienced receiving and stock clerks with immediate availability. Position holders will be counting, tracking, and moving merchandise from arrival through stocking and sale in a safe and accurate manner. Qualifications High School diploma and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a valid NYS drivers license. Two years experience as receiving clerk or similar position in a warehouse or retail setting preferred. Job Specific Qualifications Qualified candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays. Effective interpersonal communication and organizational skills. Reliable, self-motivated and independent. Basic math and recording abilities, computer database proficiency and excellent attention to details. Verifiable understanding of safety and health regulations as they pertain to stock and warehouse work. Responsibilities Unload shipments from vendor or University vehicles at the Schine Student Center and Hawkins Warehouse locations. Inspect received boxes for quality and quantity. Create and maintain documents to track received merchandise in daily log. Investigate and resolve situations when items are not properly recorded in daily log. Verify items received. Alert supervisor if damage, shortage or other discrepancies are found. Enter inventory counts into the stores retail management system. Route incoming merchandise to various departments and move items to designated storage areas. Repackage items for shipment and storage as necessary. Package and ship online orders and returns to vendors. Ensure all outgoing shipments are properly labeled and that correlating documents are available with each shipment. Respond to customer and vendor phone or email inquiries regarding status or tracking of orders or returns. Create and maintain accurate records and assist in inventory control. Assist management in recycling material in the warehouse. Cooperate with representatives from other departments in the organization to provide warehouse information as requested. Perform regular warehouse audits to ensure that stored materials are undamaged and maintained neatly throughout the warehouse. Other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for long periods of time, use cleaning supplies Routinely lift, bend and push items up to 50 pounds.
