  • Responsibilities

    After Hours Help Desk Technician: This position will work from 12:30 PM to 9:30 PM. The Technician works as a team member within the ITS department but will be responsible for Help Desk service until 9:30 PM. The Technician will perform their own data entry into the work order tracking system. Technician will also assist in training and supervising student workers and assisting them in their duties and report directly to the Help Desk Coordinator. Performs other duties as assigned.

     

    JOB DUTIES AS TECHNICIAN INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Providing support for multiple operating systems, such as Mac OS X and Linux.
    • Server administration on multiple platforms, including Microsoft Server and Linux.
    • Operation and maintenance of the virtual computing program.
    • Construction and maintenance of the preinstall environment used within the department.
    • Troubleshooting advanced network, hardware, and software issues.
    • Installation and maintenance of software in both labs and on faculty computers.
    • Construction and deployment of computer images used across campus.
    • Provide on-campus remote support via LogMeIn Rescue.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience working with Microsoft Windows XP/7/8/8.1/10, Microsoft Server 2008 R2/2012/2012 R2/2016.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2013 and 2016.
    • Working knowledge in Apple Mac OS X and iOS 9.3.2, and MAC servers.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively interface and communicate with end-users possessing various levels of PC skills is necessary.
    • Willingness to work as a team member, responsive to user requests for problem solving, and commitment to service are required.
    • Understanding of the academic environment and the ability to work in a team structure with continuous learning is essential.
    • Ability to multitask.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree Information Technology.
    • Extensive experience with hardware and various software applications in a network environment.
    • Advanced networking experience is desirable.
    • Experience working in a higher education environment.
    • A solid understanding of hardware specifications and benchmarking is also desirable.
    • Experience in researching alternative troubleshooting procedures is beneficial.
    • Any study, research, or experience in the fields of computer science and/or computer security would be a plus.
    • Experience working with licensing servers.
    • Experience working in a software-locked computer lab.
    • Experience ghosting/re-imaging computers with the use of a pre-install environment.
    • Should have experience in using work order tracking software.

     

    SALARY RANGE:

    Commensurate with education and experience.
