  • Responsibilities

    The Assistant Director of Residential Life for Community Development provides leadership and management of a comprehensive residential life program designed to meet the needs of a diverse residential population and supports the continuous development of both the professional and paraprofessional residential life staff.

    Serves as the direct supervisor for three Residence Hall Directors and a graduate assistant and conducts regular supervisory meetings for performance evaluation and goal-tracking. Coordinates the recruitment, selection, supervision, evaluation, and training of the professional and paraprofessional staff. Responsible for in-service training organization and implementation.

    Responds to crisis situations with appropriate intervention and follow-up. Serves in the On-Call Administrative duty schedule. Assists the Director in maintaining and enforcing College policies and procedures by adjudicating code of conduct violations.

    Assists in the overall operation of the Office of Residential Life program and serves in lead role when the Director is out of the office. This includes the development of department goals and learning outcomes consistent with the strategic plan of the College and the Division of Student Life. Assists with the Residential Life 12-month marketing plan and implementation.

    Works closely with the Director to ensure that the Residential Life program meets the needs of a diverse student population including the advancement of living and learning communities; providing co-curricular and extracurricular programming, including late nights and weekends. Oversees and manages the programming budget. Maintains and updates the Residential Life website and publications. Maintains good communication and visibility with all students through programmatic outreach and community building.

    Assists the Director and Assistant Director for Housing Operations with occupancy management including, but not limited to, housing selection, fall/spring opening and closing, damage billing, room changes, and roster verification.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    The ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, meet deadlines, have an understanding of and respect for Iona College's Mission and Christian Brothers heritage. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, planning, budgeting, team building, supervising, advising, presenting, training, excellent communication skills, and proven leadership in promoting student development theory; experienced in residential life facilities operations, residential education programming and judicial affairs; strong background in strategic planning, enrollment management and the retention of residential students; and the ability to establish strong collaborative relationships with students, faculty and staff. Preferred knowledge and experience with PeopleSoft and PAVE Judicial Action software.

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Master's Degree required
    • A minimum of 3 years working in a college or university residential life program or appropriate related work experience
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong customer service, organization, and problem solving abilities
    • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, planning, budgeting, team building, supervising, advising, presenting, and training

  • Qualifications

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

    • Become familiar with provider tendencies and provider’s established patient’s conditions
    • Knowledge of the Patient Centered Medical Home concept
    • Distribute Patient Agenda
    • Complete medication reconciliation every visit, including over the counter meds
    • Complete Family and Social histories
    • Move patients from waiting room to treatment room
    • Perform vital signs, acquiring any recent test results, and ascertain reason for visit
    • Prepare patient and gathering all necessary information
    • Report any changes observed in condition or behavior of patient
    • Prepare room for the practitioner
    • Perform simple procedures according to Wright Center medical policy/procedures
    • Give inoculations; draw blood, EKGs and /or any other provider requests
    • Participate in quality assurance activities to monitor and improve patient care quality
    • Complete any forms or growth charts as appropriate before practitioner sees patient
    • Assist with examination, diagnostic and treatment procedures
    • Enter requisitions in EMR
    • Prepare and send out specimens
    • Stock treatment rooms and all clinical areas as needed on a daily basis; alerting Practice Administrator of any supplies that need to be ordered
    • Keep all exam rooms, hall, and lab area neat and clean
    • Follow all standing orders as needed
    • Facilitate spirometry, audiometry, BP checks, allergy shots, UA/UC, urine drug screens and other procedures that are necessary
    • Attend all staff meetings
    • Provide back-up to other co-workers as necessary
    • Understand and adhere to professional office standards
    • Be familiar with and implementing all office policies and procedures
    • Participate when appropriate in unit-based quality initiatives
    • Perform Laboratory testing
    • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and in compliance with legal regulations
    • Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infections body fluids, chemical disinfectants, and other hazardous substances

    NON-ESSENTIAL

    • Prepare and administer medications and injections per provider
    • Make timely call backs and inform patients of their test results

    OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • The position works in close support of clinic medical director, physicians, nurses, care manager and other providers
    • HIPAA policies regarding privacy and security of patient health information will be exercised by this position at all times
    • Responsible for registering and activating patients on their individual portal accounts
    • Assist and guide patients to troubleshoot issues related to portal usage
    • Schedule patient appointments and follow-up visits
    • Answer and return phone calls
    • Intake and check out of patients
    • Ensure copays are collected at time of visit
    • Create triages within the EMR system
    • Manage patient information in Electronic Medical Records system
    • Perform other duties as assigned
