    Shenandoah University is accepting applications for a Student Conduct and Community Standards Coordinator position within the Dean of Students office. This is a full time, benefited 12-month position located on our main campus in Winchester, VA and reports directly to the Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards. 

    This position is responsible for assisting with the administration of the student code of conduct, case management, and conducting meetings with students for adjudication of alleged conduct violations and investigations. This position will be assisting the Dean of Students office with student outreach, student of concern cases and marketing efforts to promote student responsibility with policies and procedures, decision-making and behavior change.

    This position will also assist with the management of administrative needs with case management to ensure the efficient and timely adjudication of incident reports. 

    The Student Conduct coordinator must be able to work cooperatively with a diverse group of students as well as practice effective communication. 

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE: 

    • Assist in the intake, review, documentation, investigation and resolution of allegations of violations of the student code of conduct
    • Responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential electronic student conduct records 
    • Must demonstrate integrity in the student conduct hearing process and promote a positive image of the student conduct office by providing timely communication with students and appropriate personnel
    • Assist with student outreach as assigned by the Care Team
    • Serve as a conduct officer for on-campus and off-campus violations of the code of student conduct
    • Assign appropriate educational sanctions to students to allow for learning and growth to take place
    • Process data as it pertains to student conduct violations 
    • Assist students in understanding their rights and responsibilities as members of the University community
    • Meet with students as a BASICS (Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention of College Students) facilitator 
    • Communicate regularly with other campus offices including Department of Public Safety, Residence Life, Title IX Coordinator, Academic Retention, the Wellness Center
    • Other duties as assigned

    Required Skills

    REQUIREMENTS: 

    • Bachelor's degree is required 
    • A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a college/university student affairs environment as well as experience in the area of student conduct 
    • Excellent time management and communication skills
    • Attention to details, ability to prioritize and complete tasks, and meet deadlines
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and ensure secure electronic record keeping
    • Strong computer skills and ability to help manage our conduct software system 
    • Ability to understand student learning/development along with having educational conversations with students
