    HIRING SALARY:         $37,500 - $48,000 annually       

    HOURS:                        8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M., Monday – Friday; (additional hours may be required to include nights and weekends)

    MAJOR FUNCTION:  The Business Office Manager is grant funded position housed within the Department of Juvenile Justice, Tallahassee Office of the Secretary and Office of Staff Development & Training.  The Business Office Manager is responsible for managing the general administrative and support functions for the Office of Staff Development and Training. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • BUDGET AND CONTRACTS - Assists the Director and Deputy Director in the oversight and execution of the responsibilities relating to general financial, budget, and contractual matters for the Office of Staff Development and Training. Coordinates the resolution of problems and complaints related to the SD&T’s fiscal operations and works directly in conjunction with internal and external Departmental managers and vendors in the problem resolution process. Maintains regular communication with the DJJ Contract Administration Unit, Bureau of Contract Management, and other appropriate staff.  Provides alternate MyFloridaMarketPlace approvals for the budgetary process.
    • PROFESSIONAL DELIVERABLES – Participates in professional development to stay abreast of the latest in office, business, and for personal growth and development.
    • CUSTOMER SERVICE

    MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:  A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or five years’ professional or technical experience in areas such as office management, meeting/event planning, contracts, budget, and fiscal operations. Experience in Florida systems such as; MFMP, FLAIR, WORKS, STMS, etc. preferred.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of fiscal management procedures and processes. Knowledge of Juvenile Justice Policies, and Procedures especially as they pertain to staff development and training. Knowledge of the Department of Juvenile Justice budgeting rules and regulations. Knowledge of Florida state statues, rules and regulations related to the administration of state funded programs. Knowledge of the general operating procedures and bureaucratic standards of criminal justice agencies. Knowledge in use of operation of software (word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications). Microsoft certification in Excel/Word preferred. Knowledge of communication technologies, such as electronic mail and the Internet, etc. Knowledge of general standards and resource documents for business writing (grammar, composition, punctuation, layout, forms of address, etc.). Knowledge of the Department of Juvenile Justice “customer service” principles. Knowledge of the state of Florida travel rules, processes, and procedures. Ability to develop and prepare reports, statistical information, papers, evaluations, and other documents. Ability to maintain files, catalog, update, retrieve, archive information, such as electronic files and reference documents. Ability or demonstrate intermediate-to-high level skills in composing memos, correspondence, instructions, and other communication documents. Ability to research, plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments. Ability to work independently. Ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal, and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to establish and meet goals with flexibility and attention to detail. Ability to perform occasional overnight in-state travel
