OPS EAGLE CONNECTIONS MENTOR

HIRING SALARY: $8.25 - $10.00 per hour
HOURS: Part-time, 25 hours per week, Monday-Friday

MAJOR FUNCTION: Tallahassee Community College is seeking part-time mentors for the EAGLE Connections Program housed within the Accessibility and Resource Center (ARC). The mission of the EAGLE Connections program at Tallahassee Community College is to provide a course of study that includes career exploration, work experience, and social activities while empowering young adults with significant cognitive disabilities to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to become independent and productive citizens. The program offers young adults with disabilities an opportunity to experience life on a college campus while developing self-determination, independent living, and employability skills. Mentors work alongside EAGLE Connection students as they navigate college life, beginning with collaborative trainings, working with staff and faculty and accompanying students to their courses around campus. The mentor position is not all coursework and study sessions. Other aspects such as life skills, fitness, lunch, and on-campus events are opportunities for mentors to engage with students socially.
MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: OPS positions require at least a High School Diploma or GED with appropriate experience.
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Proven ability to coach, empower and mentor, experience or interest working with people with disabilities; Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel , Word, and email; Strong organizational skills; Ability to manage files and records, and design forms; Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; Ability to handle confidential information
