    GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE

    The Finance Manager role provides broad financial leadership to key teams within the organization to drive profitable growth across multiple domestic and foreign entities and organizational units. This position is responsible for consolidating financials, planning and carrying out broad assignments in reporting, budgeting, forecasting and data analysis in project areas that may include business plans, licensing, contracts, product profitability analysis and reporting, profit plans, and cash flow analysis and control. The scope of this position may also include responsibility for financial and accounting matters including: capital equipment planning and justification; financial systems implementation; general ledger closing, strategic planning and budgeting, contract review, cost accounting, inventory control, financial reporting, variance analysis, crop accounting and forecasting.

     

    This is an in-person, physically on-site role based in Crum Lynne, PA

     

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION

    • Month End Close - Manage and participate in the monthly close process and other daily activities (e.g. preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, account analyses, and monthly financial reporting) of the supported departments and business units
    • Financial Planning and Analysis - Prepare the company’s short and long-range financial plan including developing and analyzing the assumptions used to develop revenue, COGS, operating expense projections and full financial statements. Develop complex excel models as appropriate. Prepare reports for executive management team, Board of Directors, Dole Food Company and various external parties as needed. Prepare the analysis for quarterly reviews and the annual audit process
    • Forecasting and Budgeting - Prepare and lead the annual budget and rolling 13-period forecast processes. Work closely with senior management and department managers to monitor expense drivers against budget. Enhance automation processes for budgeting and forecasting
    • Management Reporting - Prepare and publish a periodic internal management reporting package (Tuesday Package) with key metrics to monitor the Company’s performance and future outlook. If required and beneficial, develop and distribute a weekly flash report with simple key metrics
    • Budget vs. Actual Analysis - Prepare and publish monthly spending reports vs. budget including documentation of material variances. Present succinct budget vs. actual analysis to senior management. Acts as key financial resource to managers for financial guidance, and business partner in pursuit of Operational Excellence objectives
    • Decision Support- Develop financial models and analysis of various opportunities including licensing, partnership, alliances, acquisitions and divestitures as required. Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes
    • Partner with and educate business owners, internal and external, to ensure accounting processes are complete, streamlined and scalable
    • May develop, coach and manage team of accounting and finance personnel
    • Readily accepts new opportunities and takes appropriate actions to ensure the work is done; energizes team members to achieve timely results; sets expectations and empowers others to problem solve; demonstrates good judgment; facilitates successful and appropriate solutions
    • Other - Work on special projects and provide ad hoc analysis and projects as directed

     

    EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT

    • Manage employees assigned to finance functions. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
    • Maintains smoothly functioning department/work area in compliance with standards set by the company’s Human Resources Department.
    • Establishes the scope of authority and responsibility for direct reports.
    • Periodically meets with direct reports to establish individual and team performance goals to review, coach and monitor performance against goals, discuss significant operations issues and review staff training and development requirements. Establishes goals and measures to track the success of the department.
    • Promotes teamwork among the Accounting and Finance staff to ensure work is performed in a collaborative manner and standards for excellent customer service are achieved.
    • Maintains effective communication with all management staff to ensure coordination and exchange of information for accomplishing company goals. Gathers and disseminates information to all areas/departments regarding policy and procedures changes, and other important issues involving assigned areas.
    • Analyzes the workflow of the department and continuously makes recommendations to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
    • Conducts performance evaluations of direct reports and recommends merit increases, when applicable.

     

    INTERNAL & EXTERNAL RELATIONS

    • Internal Relations in this role include: Business Management Team, Division Management Team and Executive Management Team
    • External Relations for this role include: Auditors, growers, vendors, customers

    Required Skills

    EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

    • B.A. in accounting, finance, CPA/MBA preferred or equivalent work experience.

     

    JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skill And Experience Requirements)

    • Work Experience: 5-7 years of progressive financial reporting and cost accounting experience, including supervisory experience. Agriculture experience is helpful.
    • Knowledge/Skills: Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with mainframe systems; i.e., Famous, J.D. Edwards or an equivalent system.
    • Language Requirements: English & Spanish required.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with demonstrated positive influence skills.
    • Self-starter with good interpersonal and problem solving skills.
    • Must operate with minimal guidance to identify issues and resolve complex problems.
    • US GAAP and IFRS knowledge.
