    Job Description

    The College of Arts & Letters at the University of Notre Dame is seeking a Temporary Audio Engineer & Video Specialist for supporting a wide range of performances and events across the college’s arts departments.

    This position plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality technical production support for concerts, recitals, theatrical productions, and other events. Working closely with the Departments of Music, Sacred Music, Film, Television, and Theatre , and Shakespeare at Notre Dame , the specialist provides expert audio and video services across multiple venues.

    The role collaborates with faculty, guest artists, production teams, and technical staff to bring performances to life with professionalism and technical excellence.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Oversee and execute all aspects of sound and video production, including recording, editing, and live streaming.
    • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot a variety of A/V equipment: soundboards, microphones, speakers, projectors, cameras, etc.
    • Manage and maintain performance archives and media inventory.
    • Operate or train students to operate equipment for live events and productions.
    • Collaborate with internal departments and guest artists to plan and staff technical support needs for events.
    • Provide sound design and technical support for rehearsals and performances.
    • Supervise and schedule load-ins, load-outs, and technical setups.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Advanced technical expertise in audio and video production
    • Proficiency in sound reinforcement, microphone techniques, signal processing, and mixing (analog and digital consoles).
    • Experience with classical music production preferred.
    • Skilled in video production, including camera operation, projection systems, switchers, and editing software.
    • Ability to install, configure, and repair A/V systems; understanding of room acoustics and acoustic treatments.
    • Familiarity with copyright law related to performance recordings, streaming, and archival practices.
    • Strong project management abilities with an independent and deadline-driven work style.
    • Effective collaborator with the ability to support faculty, staff, and guest artists.

    Additional Information

    Schedule

    • This is a temporary position, expected to last 5–6 months.
    • Weekly schedule of 30–40 hours, with hours adjusted to meet event needs.
    • Evening and weekend availability required, based on production schedules.

    Hiring Pay Range

    • Commensurate with experience
