    Job Description

    The University of Notre Dame Operations, Events, and Safety (UOES) division is currently hiring for multiple on-call/temporary positions in our campus hospitality department. The UOES Division oversees the University's event management, hospitality, and customer service functions, while also supporting student life, academic initiatives, research activities, and annual milestone celebrations.

    Dining Room Attendant - $8.78/hr + tips

    As a Dining Room Attendant at the Morris Inn, you will be an essential part of our dining team, assisting servers to ensure guests receive prompt and courteous service.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Replenish water and condiments for guests.
    • Carry trays to assist with service.
    • Clear any used or unwanted items from tables.
    • Clear tables of dishes, glassware, and silverware.
    • Stack dishes as instructed for efficient transport.
    • Safely transport soiled items to the dishwashing area for cleaning.
    • Adhere to all established Morris Inn recycling practices.
    • Exercise caution and care when handling china, glassware, and silverware to prevent breakage.

    Host/Hostess - $17.50/hr

    The Host/Hostess will engage with our internal and external guests in a professional, welcoming, consistent and joyful manner in order to ensure the experience is a memorable one while creating return guests for the Morris Inn.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage the OpenTable software to seat, assign tables, and other restaurant duties
    • Information gathering for the front of house, back of house team members, and the guest
    • Seating guests to optimize the dining experience, pacing of the service team, and the optimal use of the dining room.
    • Menu presentation and communicating with server to seated table
    • Answering phones according to service standards
    • Reservation confirmation with guests
    • Execute all guest interactions with a joy for serving others; all while demonstrating professionalism, job knowledge, grace, respect, and friendliness.
    • Alert server about all special notes in a reservation including allergies, special occasions, past experiences, etc.
    • Update Guest Experience Profile each visit and alert management of any issues

    In-Room Dining Server - $12.00/hr + tips

    As an In-Room Dining (IRD) Server, you will be responsible for providing detailed and expeditious food and beverage service directly to our guests in various settings. This role is crucial in ensuring a seamless and high-quality experience in accordance with all University Operations, Events, and Safety Hospitality Standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Prepare, transport, and serve both alcoholic and non-alcoholic food and beverage items, as well as amenities, to hotel guest rooms, banquet meeting rooms, and dining rooms.
    • Exercise extreme discretion and exemplary professionalism while in and around guest rooms and private areas.
    • Bus tables and efficiently remove service items from guest rooms, hotel hallways, meeting and banquet dining rooms, the hotel lobby, terrace, and other designated areas.
    • Lift and carry trays for beverage and food service according to established standards.
    • Respond immediately to any safety and cleanliness concerns within the work environment.
    • Perform tasks repeatedly and re-prioritize assigned tasks as needed to support service for other team members.
    • Provide concierge services, including sharing knowledge of food and beverage offerings, Notre Dame, South Bend, and specific events on and around campus.
    • Anticipate guest needs and proactively suggest and offer additional items to enrich their experience.
    • Clean and maintain all Room Service equipment and supplies.

    Qualifications

    • Capable of managing time effectively with minimal supervision
    • Positive, respectful, excellent communication and listening skills
    • Ability to maintain a standing position for extended periods of time (up to 6 hours at a time)
    • Follow food safety procedures for handling, storing, and serving food products
