Serves as a resource for employee benefits information and processes. Required Education and Experience: * Bachelors degree or any combination of education and experience. * One year of administrative or human resources experience. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Ability to process, assess, and prioritize confidential information. * Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to effectively communicate with many different people. Communication and presentation skills must be professional and of demonstrated high quality. * Working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing. * Knowledge of new hire processing, employee benefits, retirement, and/or other human resources issues. * Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others. Other Requirements or Other Factors: * This is a security-sensitive position required to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by HIPAA regulations, in accordance with A&M System policy, and further required to complete HIPAA training as a condition of employment, within a reasonable timeframe after the individuals employment, and on an as-needed basis thereafter. Preferred Education and Experience: * Bachelors degree in Business Administration or Human Resources. * Experience working in a high-volume HR Benefits department processing new hires, benefit enrollments or changes, and related employee actions. * Experience with I-9 administration. * Previous experience working within the public sector, state or local government, or higher education. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * In-depth knowledge of Form 1-9, employee benefits administration, benefits reporting, retirement, leave administration, and/or other human resources issues. * Working knowledge of benefit terminology and processes as well as a solid understanding of the rules and regulations needed to administer benefits (i.e. USERRA, EEO, Affirmative Action, FMLA, HIPAA). * Demonstrated ability using MS Office programs to include MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Power Point. * Ability to work as a team member in a diverse organization. Responsibilities: * Reviews and processes actions related to new hires, transfers, and other employment actions, to include E-Verify, Form I-9, and Texas A&M System Universal Identification Number (UIN) tasks. * Understands regulations for processing and answer questions from departments and HR colleagues. * Notifies department administrators of any discrepancies and corrections. * In E-Verify, manages Tentative Non Confirmations Answer questions and serves as a resource. * Approves Form I-9 in Guardian and processes Workday and other system tasks related to I-9 and UIN. * Identifies expiring Form I-9s monthly and notifies department administrators. * Researches and resolves compliance issues related to I-9, UIN, and related Workday issues. * May assist with communications, presentations, and web information related to administration of these processes. * Works with departments or other Benefit Services team members to support benefit change events as needed. This includes retirement programs administration, and processing new hire enrollments and benefit terminations. * Reviews reports and identifies and implements solutions in HRIS or other systems. * Assists with administration of leave programs as needed, to include sick leave pool administration, Family Medical Leave documentation review and processing, assisting customers and departments with leave processes, and entering changes into the HRIS system. * Provides responsive, customer focused general counseling to university employees or retirees regarding group insurance benefit options including enrollment, retirement, leaves of absence including processing leave without pay calculations, and other life altering events affecting insurance decisions. * Establishes a positive rapport with internal and external customers in the university community to ensure a smooth transmission of subject matter expertise so that transactional functions may be carried out correctly within the various business units. * Participates in educational and development opportunities. * Assists other HR staff as needed. Serves on various department committees as needed. Participates in continuous improvement initiatives. * Performs other duties as assigned.
