    Job Details - Job Title - Fashion Resource Center Intern (SAIC- Spring 2019) - Job ID - Location - Full/Part Time - Regular/Temporary - Introduction - The School of the Art Institute of Chicago's (SAIC) Fashion Resource Center (FRC) is seeking students for spring and summer 2019. The FRC receives an average of 500 visitors per month, as it is one of the few research facilities of its kind located within an institution of higher education in the United States. It is used by faculty and students six days a week from 9am-7pm for a variety of activities that include independent research, class instruction, tours, recruitment, fundraising, lectures and film screenings. - Position Summary - The FRC is currently in the process of cataloging garments and other resource materials in order to make collections accessible through the Flaxman's Library catalog and SAIC's Digital Collections. We are seeking students who can assist with this project during the next few semesters. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Create metadata for digital collections of garment and accessories. - Update catalog records for printed materials including journals, look-books, and pattern books. - Update catalog records for video and dvd collections. - Work with the Director of the FRC, the Digital Collections Librarian, and Collections Management Librarian to update and create records for collections of different varieties. - Assist Director of FRC with instruction and reference when necessary. - Qualifications - The ideal candidate will have: - A degree in or currently studying Library Sciences. - Ability to problem solve and work within a team as well as independently. - Can take instruction and follow up once tasks are completed. - Detail oriented - Proficient in Microsoft Excel - Experience collecting and in putting meta data. - Experience cataloging books and/or garments and accessories. - Intern Information - Length of Program: semester Hours: 10-14 hours a week College Credit: Available Compensation: Unpaid - Closing Statement - The Art Institute of Chicago is an equal opportunity, equal access employer fully committed to achieving a diverse and inclusive workplace.
