    Are you an experienced instructional designer with strong skills in synthesizing content, creating story-driven learning, and collaborating constructively with faculty? The New School, N Ventures is seeking an instructional designer to work on new program development projects. Experience in Coursera is a plus!

    About the Company:

    N Ventures is a new business enterprise for The New School. The entity’s mission is to identify opportunities to extend the university brand through partnerships focused on extending access to our educational pedagogy and new enterprises such as licensing with the goal of generating scalable revenue opportunities. This is a start-up so the environment is fast-paced and hands-on. The On Demand Learning team within N Ventures focuses on bringing the world class education of the New School online through partnerships with platforms like Coursera, Futurelearn, and Yellowbrick.

    As an instructional designer for N Ventures you will work closely with our partners and internal team to develop our on-demand education programming with a focus on supporting faculty and other subject matter experts to develop asynchronous learning that follows the criteria of our partnered platforms. This role requires the ability to synthesize research and other source materials into clear learning outcomes and proven experience in developing compelling learner-friendly content. accessible content.

    A successful instructional designer will have extensive, demonstrative experience building and designing asynchronous learning content from scratch. Candidates must be able to manage the end to end production process for a program – from content ideation and story arc creation all the way through to post production, assessment, and evaluation. An ideal candidate also has an eye toward new program opportunities and process efficiencies. Prior experience in asynchronous learning, development editing, or script writing preferred. Comfort working in a startup environment required.

    Responsibilities

    Program Development

    • Work closely with faculty and N Ventures staff to develop story arc for asynchronous learning programs, distilling key lessons from existing content for target audience

    • Identify and find additional sources as needed, to support specific content objectives, with guidance from subject matter experts and faculty

    • Adhere to timelines and coordinate closely with project managers

    • Develop syllabi in line with platform requirements and The New School pedagogy, editing as required based on feedback

    • Develop storyboard and scripts for video production

    • Develop assessments and provide recommendations for supplementary content, such as readings, assignments, discussion board questions, quizzes, etc

    • Maintain high standards for developing digital content to ensure they meet or exceed market and learner needs

    • Supervise the work of freelance contributors, as needed

    Program Evaluation

    • Gather, analyze and synthesize effective, actionable feedback from faculty and students on projects in market and in development, identifying program and process efficiencies

    • Provide input and direction on marketing creatives based on knowledge of target audience

    • Suggest timeline for program refreshes to ensure relevance in market

    • Identify areas for program growth based on feedback from learners

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional work experience

    • Comfort with distilling large amounts of content and data and translating complex, abstract ideas for a digital audience

    • Entrepreneurial drive and comfort working in ambiguous, quickly changing environments

    • Proven ability to create digital content that is highly engaging

    • Strong time management and organizational skills

    • Strong relationship skills with a track record of positively collaborating, influencing, and extensively coordinating with internal and external partners.

    • Strong sense of customer

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Problem-solving skills

    • Proficiency is Microsoft office, G-Suite and Project Management tools

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Prior experience with storyboarding and scriptwriting, ideally in production

    • Prior experience and comfort with education technology partners

    • Prior experience in the education industry

    • Basic knowledge of HTML ideal, but not required
