  • Responsibilities

    JCCC is searching to fill our open Creative Lead/Designer position. The Creative Lead/Designer creates visual concepts that inspire, inform and captivate the target audience. Concepts are designed independently or expanded upon ideas generated by others. Campaigns require seamless, cohesive layouts across various print and digital media. The Designer works closely with writers/editors, the photographer and digital staff to produce layouts that are visually appealing and follow industry standards and best practices.

    From posters and infographics to PowerPoint presentations and digital ads, the designer collaborates with the team to ensure the final products delivers the message. They understand and apply advertising concepts and industry trends to their use of text, color, and style. They understand campaign goals and present multiple concepts for client review. Client feedback is evaluated and applied when necessary to ensure integrity of the final product.

    The Designer must manage multiple projects and prioritize the workload to meet deadlines. This position is responsible for ensuring final layout and pre-flight files are organized correctly for printing. Using a project management system, the Designer will document job status and client communication. Final files will be archived using an established naming convention. Using independent judgement, providing solutions and resolving issues is necessary for success. The Designer assists in providing quality control for the College’s brand, voice and style and identify when alternative solutions are needed to align with overall goals.

    • Designs are community-oriented, family-friendly and student-first.
    • The primary message and take away is clearly identifiable.

    Foster positive relationships with clients and employees.

    • Communication is open, constructive and solution-driven.
    • Others are informed how the recommended design will help achieve their goals.
    • Work is prioritized appropriately.
    • Stakeholder expectations are met.

    Required Skills

    • Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, graphic design or the equivalent
    • Knowledge of pre-press techniques, digital technology and printing techniques
    • Good communication skills
    • Creative flair and originality
    • Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends

    PREFERRED SKILLS

    Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, Outlook and project management software

    Required Experience

    • Two years’ minimum experience using demonstrated graphic design skills and techniques for print and digital
    • Experience with current design software (Adobe Creative Suite) for Mac

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

    Experience working for higher education organizations
