  • Responsibilities

    Under the direct supervision of the Events Setup Supervisor, delivers, sets up, removes and monitors all equipment requested for University sponsored events and requests made by outside groups or individuals to use University Facilities.  Assists the supervisor in overseeing personnel and activities involved in event setups.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Responds to student and other group’s issues in a supportive, professional, timely and problem solving manner
    • Sets up and breaks down equipment for all special events such as Athletic events, concerts, assemblies, commencement services, dances, social activities, expositions and meetings. Makes minor on site repairs of equipment and materials required for setups
    • Liaisons with the customer at the event site during setups as necessary to confirm arrangements
    • Must present self in a professional manner with attention to personal appearance and presentation
    • Recommends material, equipment and personnel needs to the supervisor for planning and budgeting purposes
    • Performs as a working crew leader as necessary to accomplish required work activities and provides timely feedback to the supervisor concerning activities of the work group, when assisting personnel are assigned
    • Implements predetermined work priorities and may rearrange schedules to accommodate changed conditions
    • Responsible for maintaining an up-to-date inventory of all setup equipment and maintaining orderly storage of said equipment
    • Assists in development of recommendations for the purchase of new and replacement equipment.
    • Conducts routine inspections of all set up materials (Chairs, tables, sound equipment, electrical cords, tents, etc.) in order to verify they are in safe operating condition. Makes minor repairs to equipment and materials, or requests work order for assistance via Supervisor
    • Assists all trades by delivery of materials, cleaning supplies, and equipment to job sites. Also provides assistance with removals of rubbish and debris from completed job sites
    • Assists with delivery and setup of furniture, equipment and other items as needed
    • Effectively plans and performs in a multi-task environment, and meets self or pre-imposed objectives and deadlines. Exercise the use of independent judgment
    • Maintains an effective working relationship, both inter and intra-departmentally
    • Participates on Quality Improvement Teams, as assigned
    • Prepares time and material estimates as required
    • Abides by and complies with University policies and procedures
    • Performs maintenance duties consistent with the job description of a Maintenance Technician I  and performs other duties or special assignments as assigned

     

    MINIMUM EDUCATION:  HS Diploma/GED

    Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License and an insurable driving record.
