    POSITION:

    We are currently looking for a full-time Traffic Project Engineer to join our growing traffic team in the Madison office which is the hub of our traffic engineering services. Our current workload includes a wide range of projects including on-call work with State DOTs and large municipalities, traffic studies for citywide operations and major developments, and investigation into future technologies that will change the transportation industry.  Join our team for exciting opportunities to advance your skills and share your knowledge in the traffic engineering arena. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Prepare Traffic Studies and Design Plans
    • Conduct field investigations as required by reports or studies
    • Prepare technical reports summarizing findings
    • Project management including project planning, scoping, and budgeting
    • Coordinate meetings with clients, the public, local officials, and utility representatives
    • Assist with proposal preparation and client marketing

    Required Skills Required Experience

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related degree) by May 2020 required
    • Minimum GPA of 2.75 required
    • The ideal candidate will have knowledge of operational analysis, micro simulation modeling, corridor studies, safety studies, signal design, and intersection design
    • The ideal candidate will have 0-5 years of relatable experience
    • Traffic Analysis software experience including Synchro/SimTraffic, SIDRA, and HCS.  Vissum/Visum, Paramics, and Cube experience considered a plus.
    • Solid written and verbal communication skills
    • Involvement in professional organizations
    • Successfully passed FE exam preferred

  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s or Associate degree and 2-3 years of experience in volunteer management or similar field.
    • Strong computer skills, including operation of the MS Office suite. Experience with databases desirable, and must be able to quickly learn new software, applications, and platforms.
    • Excellent customer service and hospitality skills.
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills and a history of successfully working with people from a variety of identity groups.
    • Proven ability to work independently while balancing a variety of tasks, and produce quality, timely results.
    • Demonstrated experience collaborating with teams.
    • Strong presentation and public speaking skills, including experience working with adults in formal or informal settings.
    • The ability to think broadly across community engagement strategies to analyze existing processes and make suggestions for program improvement.
    • Solution-oriented, and proactive problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to apply learning to new systems and projects independently.
    • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities while coordinating work flow in a deadline-driven and service-focused environment.
    • Responsive, timely and professional communication skills – written and verbal, underscored by strong emotional intelligence.
    • Driver’s license, good driving record and reliable car required, and ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
    • Experience with supervision DESIRABLE.
    • Spoken and written Spanish PREFERRED, but not required.
    • Appreciation for food, nutrition, and cooking, as well as a desire to contribute to Share Our Strength’s mission.
    • Demonstrated interest in anti-hunger and anti-poverty issues.
