The Wilma and Peter Veldman Family Psychology Clinic at the University of Notre Dame is seeking a Therapist Specialist to join our collaborative, mission-driven team. This clinician will play a central role in expanding access to effective mental health care across St. Joseph County through the Universal Wellness Project (UWP)—a partnership between the University of Notre Dame and Northwestern University dedicated to bringing evidence-based single-session interventions (SSIs) and single-session consultations (SSCs) to youth and families in community and school settings.

The Veldman Family Psychology Clinic is Notre Dame’s premier center for clinical science, training, and community mental health. As part of the College of Arts & Letters, the clinic brings together faculty, staff, and students who are pioneering innovative research, delivering exceptional clinical care, and preparing the next generation of mental health professionals. Our work is deeply grounded in the University’s mission to be a force for good—with a particular focus on expanding access to evidence-based, high-quality mental health services for underserved populations in our community and around the world.

Position Overview

The Therapist Specialist will provide direct clinical services to children, adolescents, adults, and families while serving in a leadership role to implement and disseminate single-session interventions (SSIs) and single-session consultations (SSCs) across St. Joseph County through the Universal Wellness Project. This county-wide initiative—developed in partnership between the University of Notre Dame and Northwestern University—aims to expand access to brief, effective mental health care in community and school settings.

This is a two-year, limited-term position, and contingent on funding, the position may be extended. The role offers opportunities to collaborate with community partners, supervise graduate students, contribute to provider trainings and workshops, and participate in evaluation and research activities that strengthen the development and sustainability of innovative, evidence-based intervention models.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical services including intakes, triage, single-session consultations (SSCs), and individual or group-based interventions for children, adolescents, adults, and families. Participate in weekly treatment team meetings and provide supervision to graduate students as appropriate.
• Lead the implementation and dissemination of SSIs and SSCs across St. Joseph County through the Universal Wellness Project, collaborating with community partners to support adaptation, delivery, and long-term sustainability.
• Communicate and consult with internal and external partners, including clinic faculty and staff, local healthcare providers, schools, and community agencies to coordinate services and ensure continuity of care.
• Support training and dissemination efforts by helping plan and deliver community trainings, workshops, and provider events; assist with documentation, fidelity monitoring, and sharing lessons learned.
• Contribute to additional clinic projects such as didactic presentations, community engagement efforts, and other clinical initiatives as assigned.
• Maintain organized records and support team operations, participating in regular meetings and assisting with clinic-related administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications

Required

• Masters or doctoral degree in clinical psychology, social work, or a closely-related field, with a current Indiana license in that field (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, Ph.D., Psy.D., etc.) or immediate eligibility in Indiana via license reciprocity.
• Candidates must carry professional certification for independent practice in the state of Indiana (e.g., Indiana requires licensed psychologists to obtain endorsement as health service providers in psychology (HSPP) to engage in independent diagnosis, treatment of mental and behavioral disorders, and related clinical supervision).
• At least one year of experience working with adolescents or youth in mental health settings providing evidence-based care.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with diverse populations, including youth, families, and community partners.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred

• Clinical experience across lifespan, including child, adolescent, and adult, though not required, is a plus.
• Training or experience in brief or single-session interventions, cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, or dialectical-behavioral approaches.
• Experience working within school or community-based systems.
• Familiarity with human-centered design, implementation science, or community-based participatory research.
• Interest in training others in evidence-based approaches and scaling interventions in community contexts.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a strong plus, to help ensure that evidence-based care reaches as many families as possible in our diverse community.
