    SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the overall payroll function for the corporate group as well as North American operations. It directs the operations of the Payroll Specialist and system; gathers, advises and tests system updates. It works with SME’s in Benefits, HR Infrastructure, Accounting/Finance as well as HR Generalists and Managers to ensure accurate system performance while maintaining production of the payroll output including GL detail. This position also has direct supervisory responsibilities.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

    PAYROLL, TAX FILING, GL AND TIME AND ATTENDANCE

    • Performs advanced level payroll processing. Sharing the payroll processing workload with focus on the more complex aspects (i.e. expatriate, relocation, international, union, visa holders, and global mobility).
    • Leads conversion and implementation of payrolls, mergers and acquisitions.
    • Handles all higher level Payroll related functions to enhance segregation of duties, including year-end processing.
    • Testing Workday payroll, time and absence functionality updates/enhancements.

    PROJECTS/PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

    • Recommend process/customer service improvements, policy changes and/or major variations from established policy that must be approved by appropriate leadership prior to implementation.
    • Implementing process improvements using critical thinking and innovative solutions.
    • Serve as a key liaison with third parties and other stakeholders (e.g. accounting/finance).
    • Partnering across the organization to deliver needs for departments and operating divisions.
    • Participate in cross functional teams during special projects including mergers & acquisitions, major configuration updates and events.

    REPORTS/QUERIES

    • Write and maintain functional reports in Workday environment.
    • Delivers routine daily/weekly/monthly reporting and responds to ad hoc data requests.

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from four-year College
    • 7-10+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Prior experience in Payroll is required
    • A complete understanding of tax preparation and accounting principles is necessary
    • Workday Payroll experience a plus
    • Certified Payroll Practitioner (CPP) preferred, but not required
