Student Mental Health Therapist Posting Details Position Information Title Student Mental Health Therapist Position Type Full-time Schedule 38 Location Henderson, NV Department NV-Student Health Program Position Number 4P9988 Job Description Student Mental Health Therapist works collaboratively with the Division of Student Affairs staff and the Student Health Center to ensure the TUN student mental health needs are met. Reporting to the Clinical Psychologist-Counselor, the Student Mental Health Therapist is responsible for facilitating the mental health needs of TUN students and provide advocacy and resource services for the students. Perform professional work in mental health at a level of professional maturity; provide psycho diagnostic, psychotherapeutic, and consultative services; perform work in prevention, training and/or research. Collect pertinent student data and coordinate with other team members for appropriate student intervention. Work cooperatively with care team. The successful candidate must also demonstrate the Universitys core values of social justice, intellectual pursuit, and service to humanity through their work. Job Duties 1. Duties include but are not limited to maintaining a caseload and providing appropriate client documentation; assessing and treating clients and in understanding and coping with emotional and social problems; facilitating education, support groups, and referrals; gathering relevant information pertaining to case issues; writing psychosocial evaluations and treatment plans; assuring compliance with agency and governmental practice, ethical, and confidentiality standards; and providing advocacy and resource brokerage services for clients. 2. The Student Mental Health Therapist works independently with minimal supervision, but must also be able to work effectively on a team or as a team leader. 3. This position requires excellent collaborative, writing, speaking, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks and deadlines, multitask, thrive in a busy environment, and maintain professionalism and confidentiality. 4. Serves as a point of contact for mental health services within Student Counseling Services, to include answering or directing telephone and e-mail inquiries and providing information and training to students, faculty, and staff regarding mental health issues. 5. Collaborate with those involved in wellness programming efforts campus wide. 6. Fill in for the Clinical Counselor Psychologist as requested. 7. Participate in university committee work. 8. Participate in student events such as, but not limited to, orientation, white coat ceremony, commencement, etc. 9. Assist with university events as needed which include occasional evening and weekend commitments. 10. Provide therapy services at least two evenings each week. 11. Provide regular mental health programming and educational activities for students. 12. Show a capacity to support and celebrate students from a variety identities (race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender, sex, age, etc.). 13. Other duties as assigned by the licensed psychologist. Required Qualifications A Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, or other related degree is required. Experience: Two years of related clinical/counseling experience. The potential candidate must be eligible for licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist ( LMFT ), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor ( LCPC ), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker ( LCSW ) in the State of Nevada, as well as training/experience in evidence based practice. Satisfactory completion of internship requirements. Knowledge of and/or experience in working with people of diverse and differing backgrounds Microsoft Office experience required Preferred Qualifications Experience working in academic healthcare settings is preferred. Higher education experience preferred. High degree of proficiency with word processing and data management programs, with attention to accuracy and detail Strong organizational skills Ability to multi-task Superior customer service skills Experience with and enthusiasm about working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
