  • Responsibilities

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    This position will vary in skill level and at any point may be responsible for welding, fabrication, and assembly of fittings for conveyor systems.   

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Cut, polish, and deburr stainless steel half-round rod.
    • Occasionally assemble fittings.
    • Read basic prints to ensure correct assembly of rods.
    • Lay fittings out for fabrication department.
    • Once skilled in position, complete assembly of fittings.
    • Operate stud gun to affix bolts onto rods.
    • Occasionally weld and tack stainless steel plates.
    • An advanced fittings fabricator will visually identify required bend of rod in order to get the desired can placement and will manually bend gravity fittings to achieve said results.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with employees at all locations.
    • Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements, including required PPE.

     

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Material handling duties and minor general maintenance.
    • Ability to operate hand and power tools
    • Exceptional attendance.
    • Responsible for area housekeeping.
    • Participate in the processes of continuous improvement.
    • Able to effectively perform similar position on the floor at any point in time.
    • Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organization’s goals.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Work is performed in an uncontrolled atmosphere.  Exposure to harsh conditions—such as:  dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures.  May travel to jobsites both domestically and internationally; living accommodations in some foreign assignments may not meet expected U.S. standards.  All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas. 

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job.   While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.  Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. on a regular basis is required.  Must be able to stand and walk 95% of the time and sit 5% of the time.

     

     

    KNOWLEDGE/ SKILL/ ABILITY/ EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

    • Manufacturing or industrial experience is strongly preferred.
    • Ability to read blue prints is preferred.
    • Tool requirements per list are required.
    • Strong math skills are preferred.
    • Problem solving skills are required.
    • Must be detail oriented and self-motivated.
    • Ability to operate a forklift required; previous experience a plus.
    • Ability to operate boom lift and scissor lift preferred.
    • Ability to work flexible hours with some weekend and holiday work required.
    • Must possess the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, both hourly and management, in a team environment.
    • Travel domestically and internationally ranging from 0-10% per year is preferred.
    • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
