    Dean of the College of Science, Technology, & Mathematics By lakers on January 4, 2019 Posted: 01/04/2019 DESCRIPTION: The Dean of Science, Technology, & Mathematics reports directly to the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs and provides academic leadership for the Mathematics & Computer Science and Natural Sciences departments, housing programs in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Information Technology, and Mathematics. The Dean will work with faculty to develop a mission/vision for the school, initiate an infrastructure to support STEM research, and assist with programs to serve the health sciences. The Dean is responsible for the delivery, assessment, improvement, and viability of all curricular and co-curricular programs within the College. The Dean supervises department chairs, co-curricular directors, faculty, and staff; coordinates the use of fiscal material and human resources to ensure programs contribute to the achievement of the college and institutional missions; leads data-informed development, modification, and elimination of curricular and co-curricular programs; develops program and college specific policies in conjunction with other members of the Deans Council; coordinates with department chairs to ensure appropriate staffing of course offerings by full and part time instructors; ensures credentialing of all instructors; and coordinates the development and management of all budgets associated with the College. The Dean will teach courses as needed (no more than one per semester). Candidates should be passionate educators who can facilitate the needs of diverse learners; demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion and the creation of culturally responsive learning environments; exhibit a mastery of their specific discipline; and be committed to the university mission of providing a liberal arts education with pathways for career preparation, personal development, and civic engagement. QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have an earned terminal degree (PhD) in a discipline housed within the College and at least three years of administrative experience at the department chair-level or above. Preference will be given to candidates with Dean or Associate Dean-experience with successful grant-writing experience.
