#94142 Investigation Drug Pharmacist - DESCRIPTION Serves as UCSD
Antiviral Research Center's operational investigational pharmacist.
Responsible for providing the required pharmaceutical services, as
related to dispensing and record keeping of investigational medications
of the UCSD Antiviral Research Center's clinical trials and studies.
Communicate with patients on an "as needed" basis concerning complex
investigational regimens and potential interactions and toxicities.
Respond to questions regarding investigational drug and protocol
procedures from medical, pharmacy, and nursing staff. Meet with research
clinic staff to determine protocol requirements and pharmacy procedures.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Possession of the legal requirements for the
practice of pharmacy as determined by the California Board of Pharmacy;
graduation from an accredited school of pharmacy; completion of
residency specialty training or two years of clinical experience as a
licensed Pharmacist in a hospital pharmacy; and knowledges and abilities
necessary for the successful performance of the duties assigned to the
position. - Extensive knowledge of current State and Federal pharmacy
regulations. - Excellent verbal communication skills and demonstrated
ability to counsel patients and provide drug information to healthcare
providers. - Demonstrated experience with investigational drug service.
- Ability to interact professionally with study monitors and regulatory
auditors. - Ability to operate a hospital pharmacy computer system -
UCSD preferred. - Pharmacy residency or equivalent clinical experience.
- Knowledge of pharmacokinetics and drug level monitoring. - Knowledge
of current research. - Doctor of pharmacy degree or equivalent
experience. - SPECIAL CONDITIONS - California Pharmacy license required.
- Must be willing to work with HIV/AIDS patients. - Occasional overtime
may be necessary. - Employment is subject to a criminal background check
