The social worker is responsible for education and advocacy of patients, families and/or significant others. Participates in related department functions, such as community and program education. This position will work with the Gynecological Oncology, Head and Neck Oncology and Melanoma teams at Moores Cancer Center. The social worker is part of a multi-disciplinary team that takes care of the entire patients needs during and after treatments for malignant and non-malignant diagnosis. The social worker also works with the team to develop new patients education and support groups. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * A Master's Degree from an accredited school of social work and possession of the requirements necessary for application for licensure as a clinical social worker as determined by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. * The knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. * Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) - issued by the state of California. * Three (3) years post MSW experience. * Strong ability to provide advanced clinical social work interventions including crisis intervention, brief mental health services to individuals, couples, family counseling, anticipatory grief work, supportive counseling, group therapy, and mandated reporting. * Experience with provision of social work services to oncology patients of diverse age groups, from childhood to seniors, with sensitivity to the cross section of the cultural population. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Development and utilization of research to improve clinical practice and implement evidence based psychosocial support programs, services and interventions. * Demonstrated interest in research to advance clinical psychosocial knowledge in provision of healthcare services to cancer patients.
