The Clinical Nurse Educator / Clinical Nurse Specialist for Ambulatory Services serves as a general expert clinician educator researcher, consultant and leader for the nursing staff, patients families and members of multi-disciplinary health care teams. Collaborates with the nursing leadership team and multi-disciplinary team members to ensure cost effective professional practice standards within patient populations based in best practices and evidence. Coordinates nursing orientation, competence, and curriculum development efforts system wide. All performance expectations associated with this position are performed at the Masters Level. Involves the design and delivery of clinician, professional / leadership development programs, policies, activities, assessment tools, and systems. Promotes excellence in patient care, through skill acquisition in evidence based nursing practice and clinical inquiry. Collaborates with nursing leadership to tailor programs and resources based on needs assessments. Meets the diverse requirements of the nursing units, patient populations, regulatory and accreditation and strategic goals of the organization / health system. Technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and recognized expertise in specific areas; problem-solving frequently requires analysis of unique issues / problems without precedent and / or structure. May manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources; functions with a high degree of autonomy. - MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required for the CNE role. - A Masters Degree in Nursing (MSN) is required for the CNS role. - BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date. - A minimum of five (5) or more years of relevant experience, including experience as a nurse educator or similar role. - Experience and proven success in developing and delivering clinical nursing education and training material for orientation, class training and skills/competency learning and leadership development. - Evidence of system wide nursing projects with positive nursing and/or patient outcomes. - Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning and leadership skills. - Excellent written and oral communication skills. - Able to work effectively in a team environment and with patients and their families. - PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Two (2) or more years of Ambulatory/Outpatient RN experience. - Demonstrated experience with EPIC electronic health records. - For CNS role: Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist, or licensure/certification in another advanced nurse practice discipline. - CNS experience in an academic teaching hospital. - Curriculum development and/or Learning System experience. - SPECIAL CONDITIONS - Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs. - Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical. - Applications/Resumes are accepted for current job openings only.
