    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a minimum of an associate degree, but a baccalaureate degree is preferred. Must be a DANB certified dental assistant with at least five years of current four-handed dentistry clinical experience and expanded functions certification (EFDA). Must have current basic life support/CPR certification. Previous online teaching experience is desirable, but not essential. All faculty must supply their own computer equipment (specifications to be provided) and Internet access. All faculty must be willing to complete an online faculty development course and orientation prior to teaching.

      

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:

    • Teach courses in accordance with college and departmental policies and procedures, as well as Basic Course  Information sheets.
    • Prepare and submit timely grade reports and other reports on student performance as may be scheduled or required.
    • Organize class activities and assignments, relating them to the overall learning outcomes of the course.
    • Provide input and work with other faculty and staff to review, produce and/ or select course-related materials.

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Extensive knowledge of the subject area(s) in which the individual is responsible for instruction.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of effective communication and of effective instruction.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the characteristics and challenges of community college students.
    • Knowledge and understanding of principles of curriculum development.
    • Computer literate and able to navigate in a Windows environment.

    • Demonstrates knowledge of the nursing process and standards of care.
    • Performs a physical, psychosocial and spiritual assessment and re-assessment on all assigned patients as needed.
    • Correctly interprets cardiac rhythm strips.
    • Monitors hemodynamic parameters as indicated.
    • Evaluates for age appropriate behavior, motor skills and psychosocial norms.
    • Recognizes signs and symptoms of abuse, documents finding in the medical record and reports signs and symptoms of abuse according to established policy.
    • Evaluates nutritional and functional status and collaborates with other disciplines to meet patient needs.
    • Identifies and considers physical, spiritual, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, age-specific, educational needs, cultural beliefs incorporating into plan of care and discharge plan.
    • Assesses status of Advanced Directives and follows through according to established policy.
    • Assesses pain appropriately and follows through according to established policy.
    • Prioritizes patient care, analyzes diagnostic test results and takes appropriate action.
    • Reports pertinent observations to physicians including adverse reactions to care.
    • Responds/intervenes to emergent situations as they arise.
    • Communicates effectively with patients, families, and other health care professionals.
