    Quality Control/Indexing Tech Job ID 2018-9082 Category Administrative/Clerical Department 7750 - Health Information Services Shift 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm Pay Grade 10 FT/PT/PRN Part Time Recruiter Mac McCord Recruiter Email macmccord@uh.org Location US-GA-Augusta Responsibilities The Quality Control/Indexing (QCI) Technician is responsible for assuring that all patient records and loose documents are scanned into the Electronic Medical Record with the highest level of quality possible. QCI Technician is also responsible for indexing all documents to the appropriate encounter and for ensuring each document is assigned the appropriate document name. Technician will review images scanned within 24 hours; identify and rescan documents that are of poor quality, ensure that all scanned documents are positioned correctly and are indexed to the correct encounter. Technician will assist with other responsibilities and adjust work schedule to meet department needs. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED required. Associates or Bachelors degree in Health Information Management preferred. Licensure/Certification N/A Experience High School Diploma or GED with one (1) year of experience in a hospital medical records department or similar office setting is required. Experience with medical records and record analysis is strongly preferred. Associates or Bachelors degree in Health Information Management with no experience required. Knowledge, skills, abilities Thorough knowledge of the function of Health Information Services and policies regarding release of information and record content and processing. Knowledge of various types of computer systems. Minimum of 30 corrected wpm preferred. Working knowledge of multi-line telephones, fax machines, printers, copiers, and computers. Ability to use good judgement and discretion in releasing medical information and screen unauthorized requests appropriately. Ability to perceive and respond to similarities or differences in colors, shapes, or other values of the same or different color. Ability to work under pressure and stress in order to meet deadlines and to provide good service. Ability to follow established procedures in filing and sorting, offering suggestions for improvements. Ability to multi-task and set priorities daily to accomplish work. Ability to use good judgement and make reasonable decisions. Ability to work unsupervised and alone on weekends and holidays assuming full responsibility for operation of Health Information Services. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Good communication skills and reasoning, mathematics and language skills. Knowledge of medical terminology. Physical Demands This position requires being seated at a video monitor almost 95% of the time. A small amount of physical work which may include lifting a maximum of 20 pounds, carrying and filing of medical records/documents weighing up to 10 pounds. Filing records requires reaching, pulling, pushing, bending and stooping. Video Display Terminal screen protectors and back safety belts are available upon request.
