Assist the Manager of Audio Services with the scheduling, production, development, and technical aspects of the LAITS Audio Studio and Liberal Arts Development Studio. Essential Functions Engineer live audio for broadcast/recording - both in studio and in the field multiple times a day. Provide pre-production planning for broadcasts/recordings. Provide post-production technical assistance. Work with full production team to achieve goals. Assist with deployment of upgrades for studio and gear. Run backup lecture capture recordings for broadcast. Train and assist non-technical staff and student team members with recordings and the creating and processing of audio files. Prepare reports on studio activities. Estimate costs for productions. Provide customer service to a diverse clientele. Perform research on hardware, software, lecture capture, and various other topics as the need arises. Assist in long-term planning of audio studio needs. Marginal/Incidental functions Other related functions as assigned. Required qualifications Bachelor's degree. One year of experience in audio production. Strong knowledge of studio, field and live audio recording techniques. Competency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook software applications. Professional demeanor. Ability to work efficiently both as a member of a team or independently with little supervision. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications At least two years of experience running live sound. At least two years of experience running field recordings. At least two years of experience with Dante Audio Networking. Dante Level 2 certification. At least one year experience working with Extron lecture capture recorders. Working knowledge of RedNet hardware and RedNet Control. Professional experience at The University of Texas at Austin as an undergraduate student employee during the 2017-18 academic year. Working knowledge of Pro Tools software. At least one year of experience working with iZotope RX Post Production Suite. Working knowledge of Vyvx fiber. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent planning and organization skills. Working conditions May work in extreme temperatures May work around standard office conditions May work around electrical and mechanical hazards Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Use of manual dexterity Climbing of stairs Climbing of ladders Lifting and moving Evening, weekend, overtime, and holiday work may be required as projects demand. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
