A degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or a related discipline is required. A minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience is preferred. Applicant must be licensed in Alaska or eligible for licensure within 2 years. The successful applicant will hold a regular, benefited position at UAF and will work a 40-hour week for the academic year mid-August through mid-May, beginning January 2019. Applicant must be able to start in this position as of February 2019. Minimal qualification for the position is as follows: Mastery of counseling theory and techniques, consultation skills, crisis intervention theory and techniques, and clinical record keeping; training and experience in development and effective presentation of outreach and prevention programs; thorough knowledge of current ethical principles, practices and standards of care for providing psychological services; human relations skills and knowledge of effective consultation methods; working knowledge of State of Alaska mental health and child/elder abuse Statutes. This advanced level of education and clinical experience is necessary for the counselor to make clinical decisions regarding student welfare in an independent manner. Applicant should be licensed in Alaska or be eligible for Alaska licensure within 2 years. Typical Education or Training: Typically, new employees in this position have a Masters or Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or Social Work (or equivalent degree) with an internship and two or more years of experience at the time of employment. New degree recipients with an internship are also considered for employment in this position.
