The Clinical Coordinator/RN acts as a clinical resource for clinic staff and as a community liaison for children enrolled in the program and may temporarily assume the duties of the Clinic Director when designated. Responsibilities Registered Nurse (RN) delivers nursing care for patients in within the limits of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and adheres to institutional policies, procedures and standards. The RN is responsible to adhere to the standard of care defined by UAMS, ANA, and Standards for specialty patient population with support and mentoring by other team members. Collects and documents assessment data. Develops a Plan of Care (POC) per standard. Implements POC including medical order and interdisciplinary approach. Evaluates the progress of patient toward attainment of desired outcomes. Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning. Administers medication per standard including drug information to patients/families. Acts as a resource/supports others. Delivers patient care using the principles of the defined nursing modality. Delegates care based on UAMS standards, legal and regulatory requirements, specific job description and individual level of education and training. Contributes to a positive work environment that is conducive to clinical education while serving as a resource for student nurses and staff.Assumes accountability and responsibility for all aspects of care for assigned group of patients, with respect for developmental level and age-specific issues. Administers medications, treatments, and performs procedures according to UAMS and Kids First policies. Evaluates children to identify signs of illness or injury and intervenes appropriately. Documents growth, nutrition, and health data, and evaluates for trends. Coordinates and completes nursing intake/ health assessment history and ongoing nursing assessments to monitor progress at established intervals. Maintains current and accurate records and ensures confidentiality. Actively works with referral sources to coordinate care and communicate progress. Collaborates with Medical Director, Director of Nursing, Registered Dietitian, Primary Care Physicians, Subspecialty Providers, UAMS resources and others to inform, implement, and revise plan of care as needed. Supports the academic model of Kids First by participating in the training of students. Teaching/learning needs of patients and families are identified, addressed, and documented. Provides learning activities, including CPR classes, and acts as a resource for staff in the areas of health, safety, and infection control. Qualifications Required: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with Associates Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelors in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing. Valid RN License, 2 years of Registered Nursing experience. Current CPR Instructor status or abke to obtain within sixmonths of hire. Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethics and accountability. Preferred: 3 years or more nursing experience with current BLS. Pediatric experience.
