The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of
Arkansas sponsors 19 varsity sports programs (eight mens and 11 womens).
These 19 programs include more than 460 student-athletes who participate
in the various sports programs annually within the National Collegiate
Athletics Association (NCAA). As the only mascot of its kind in college
athletics, the Arkansas Razorbacks, also known as Hogs, compete in the
NCAAs Division I (FBS in football) and are a current member of the

Type - Hourly/Student - Summary of Job Duties - The Athletic
Communications Intern is a 12-month paid internship within the
University of Arkansas Athletics Department. The primary
responsibilities are to assist the Arkansas Communications Office and
others in the operation of image building to positively impact and
elevate the Arkansas Razorback brand. In addition, the position will
support the Arkansas Communications Office in communications-related and
reputation management areas, which include the following: Strategic
Communications - Provide support in developing communications strategies
that will broaden visibility and reach and enhance the brand of assigned
sports - Track media relations efforts, media coverage, competition
coverage, social media, communication and events to promote a positive
brand image - Research and write fact sheets, briefing documents, press
releases, media alerts, social media and other related content Media and
Messaging - Work with staff to ensure powerful messaging and brand
consistency across communications vehicles, including
ArkansasRazorbacks.com, email, collateral materials and social media -
Assist in guiding the strategic and consistent use of opportunities for
the program including developing and maintaining relationships with
local and national media Communications Support - Assist Associate and
Assistant Directors of Communications on communications-related
opportunities and strategies as assigned - Provide collateral support in
drafting, editing, proofing, fact-checking, securing photos, etc. -
Contribute creatively in meetings to develop new concepts and approaches
- Provide support in proactively promoting members of assigned sports
for post-season awards - Staff and assist in communications efforts at
all competitive events for assigned sports and other sports as assigned
- Assist in the management of student workers in the Communications
office The position also includes substantial responsibilities for the
maintenance of the departments official website, ArkansasRazorbacks.com,
including writing game stories, advances and features, coordinating
interview requests, producing publications, the production of game notes
and game programs and game-day operations as well as other duties as

communications tools to enhance and amplify an organizations core
