Early Childhood Development Specialist University of Arkansas for

is located in Warren, Arkansas KIDS FIRST serves children with special
healthcare needs ranging in age from six weeks to five years. In our
pediatric day healthcare clinics, children diagnosed as having a medical
condition known to place them at risk for developmental delays and
disabilities receive intensive intervention. The Early Childhood
Development Specialist provides an individualized developmentally based
early intervention for a group of children birth-five years with special
health care needs and developmental delays at a UAMS Kids First clinic.
S/He works as a member of a physician directed interprofessional team to
implement the planned treatment and achieve developmental services goals

Responsibilities * Ensures quality of individualized developmental
services provided at KIDS FIRST. * Provides leadership for the
developmental services of assigned treatment room(s) in a manner that is
child-centered, family focused, demonstrates evidence-based or best
practices for early childhood, and promotes continual quality
improvement. * Establishes rich learning environments for young children
and utilizes curriculum to address the objectives contained in each
childs treatment plan. * Assures continual supervision of children
assigned to his/her care and compliance with daily ratio. * Assures
developmental services and documentation are compliant with the
guidelines set forth by KIDS FIRST, UAMS, Child Care Licensing, AFMC,
EIDT, DDS, Arkansas Department of Health, CARF and other accrediting
organizations. * Collaborates and communicates with families,
therapists, nurses, social workers, director, other clinic staff, and
contractors to provide the best quality of care and optimal outcomes for
each child. * Encourages families to take an active role in supporting
their childs development using the principles of Family Centered Care. *
Supports the academic mission of the Kids First program. This includes
participation in the training of students and pre-service professionals,
education and outreach to stakeholders, families served, and community
partners. * Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and
friendly manner as needed. * Demonstrates effective communication
skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict
confidentiality when necessary. * Demonstrates positive working
relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary
departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered
Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines. * Assists internal and
external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service. * May
perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with documentation that 12 hours of coursework in
Early Childhood, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary
Education, or Child and Family Studies has been completed PLUS six (6)
months of documented experience working with children * Good
communication skills with adults and children is required Candidate must
pass state abuse registry checks, drug screen, submit to a TB skin test
and required immunizations or provide proof of immunizations. State
accreditation in Early Childhood Special Education OR current Child
Development Associate Certificate may be substituted in lieu of the
documented 12 hours of coursework in Early Childhood, Child Development,
Special Education, Elementary Education, or Child and Family Studies
