Position Summary The Internship and Recruiting Coordinator will oversee undergraduate-employer engagement services for the School of Public and International Affairs ( SPIA ) including internships, fellowships, and entry-level job opportunities for undergraduate students. Major duties include developing and implementing strategies to prepare students for internships, identifying and recruiting internship sponsors, and placing students into internships and jobs. The Coordinator will collaborate with the UGA Career Center to plan and execute effective career programming geared toward SPIA students as well as represent SPIA at various events in order to expand and improve SPIA career services. This position requires off-campus visits to employers. Some travel is necessary. This position is a part of the SPIA Student Affairs team. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Knowledge of strategies for developing and delivering high quality pre-professional opportunities for students in higher education. Excellent networking skills and demonstrated success in developing relationships with intern sponsors, recruiters, and employers on behalf of students in higher education. Ability to travel, including out of state, overnight, and on some weekends. Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills. Confidence in preparing and making presentations before small and large groups. Absolute trustworthiness with confidential and sensitive information, communications, and materials. Develop strategies and prepare students for internships and job opportunities in consultation with SPIA Student Affairs and in close coordination with the UGA Career Center. Develop strategy, goals, and timeline for recruiting sponsors of student interns. Evaluate results of plans against goals and benchmarks. Regularly report to Director of SPIA Student Affairs and to Dean on progress and results of plans. Develop an evaluation to assess results of plans and to continually improve plans. Facilitate resume, cover-letter, and mock interview preparation for students in close coordination with UGA Career Center. Involves traveling to meet prospective sponsors and to steward relationships with sponsors, recruiters, and employers. Facilitate relationship-building between students and prospective intern sponsors, recruiters, and employers. Arrange on- and off-campus interviews for students and, as relevant, class visits by sponsors, recruiters, and employers. As needed, screen interns and job applicants on behalf of prospective sponsors, recruiters, and employers. Collaborate with other pre-professional advisors and pre-career experts in SPIA , including, e.g., staff overseeing Emerging Leaders Internship Program; alumni affairs staff (for the purpose of identifying and cultivating SPIA alumni who sponsor SPIA interns). Organize and oversee pre-career opportunities for students, e.g., Networking Night and career fairs for students. Arrange off-campus networking opportunities for students and accompany students to venues, as relevant.
