Position Information Classification Title PLUMBER Pay Grade 054 FLSA Non-Exempt Job Family Trades FTE 100 Minimum Qualifications Graduation from a standard vocational or high school and experience as a journeyman plumber; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Preferred Qualifications Position Summary This position requires skilled manual and technical work at the journeyman level in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing and heating systems. Work involves performance of skilled plumbing tasks in maintaining, repairing, and servicing a variety of fixtures and equipment. Routine maintenance, service, and repair work are performed independently. Assignments are normally received orally or through written work orders. Work is performed under the general supervision of a shop foreman, may on occasion involve the supervision of trades helpers, and may on occasion require work beyond normal duty hours resulting from emergency or high priority work. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Considerable knowledge of the standard tools, methods, practices, and materials of the plumbing trade Considerable knowledge of prevailing plumbing codes Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the work Understand and work from general instructions and specifications, and to follow blue prints and sketches Skill in the use of tools, materials, and equipment used in the plumbing trade Write simple, understandable descriptions of work performed and work scope Physical Demands Bend, stoop, stand, squat, crawl throughout normal work shift.
