Tenure-Track Faculty Position, School of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Science

The School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science, which houses the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program, in the College of Health at the University of Montana invites applicants for a full-time, academic year, tenure-track faculty position. The position is open immediately and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package. Rank will be commensurate with experience and start date is negotiable. Faculty research and effective instruction is highly valued and supported. Successful applicants will demonstrate initiative, creativity, problem solving skills, and the ability to collaborate. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tenure-track faculty need to be effective instructors within our clinically integrated curricular design. The instructional load for the position will be consistent with other tenure-track faculty of the same rank and will align with an applicant’s expertise and interest. Some preference is given to applicants who could provide instruction in at least one of the following areas: Pediatrics, Cardiopulmonary, Exercise Physiology, Prosthetics, and Practice & Administration. A primary responsibility of our tenure-track faculty members is to establish a productive research agenda. Numerous opportunities for collaborative research are available within the School, College, and University, as well as with other clinical partners in the surrounding healthcare institutions.
Lastly, an equitable degree of service within department and university committees is expected. There may be some opportunity for clinical work within our on-site clinical sites as it fits the applicant’s interest and the School’s needs.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL OF PHYSICAL THERAPY & REHABILITATION SCIENCE AND THE UNIVERSITY
UMPT is highly regarded for its academic and research programs. In addition, the School has an active, onsite clinical practice. The School hosts three well-equipped research laboratories with university, regional, national, and international collaborations and opportunities for mentorship. Some key research equipment includes a 3-dimensional movement analysis, a split-belt Bertec instrumented treadmill, multiple electromyography systems (Trigno Wireless system), inertial measurement units, musculoskeletal modeling capabilities, metabolic carts, postural control assessment tools including force plates, multiple Body Weight Support systems, Magstim Super RAPID PLUS 1 (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) Systems, and Neuro Kinetics I-Portal VNG system. Collaborators within the College and University have experience with wet lab/bench facilities to study blood and muscle analysis research. In addition, clinical practice and research opportunities exist within the UMPT Clinic, which serves clients/patients with neurologic, sports, and orthopedic impairments.
