    TEMPORARY STAFF VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

     

     

    The CURRY HEALTH CENTER is hiring a TEMPORARY PART TIME COUNSELOR to provide primary mental health care for UM students for this academic year (fall 2022 and spring 2023 semesters). This position will provide primarily direct, clinical counseling to students. This position will be based within the Counseling Services Office. The work of the counselor is complex, requiring a broad range of skills in individual and group therapy, case management, consultation, and awareness of mental health laws in Montana. The counselor’s work is consistent with the Code of Ethics of the American Counseling Association and the policies of Curry Health Center.

     

    This position does not supervise any UM personnel and may include running therapy or support groups as well as doing Outreach to the campus.

     

    This position requires developing skills and a working knowledge of the electronic health record and practice management software system titled Medicat; developing a working knowledge to effectively utilize an outcomes measure, titled College Counseling Assessment of Psychological Symptoms (CCAPS); and developing a working knowledge of Curry Health Center and Counseling Services policies and procedures and Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) accreditation standards.

     

    Required Skills

    • Demonstrate a professional level of skill in individual, group, and crisis counseling that includes assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning/delivery, case management and referral. Candidate will have knowledge of mental health law and ethical standards of the mental health professions, the ability to maintain strict standards of confidentiality, have knowledge of clinical diagnoses as reflected in the DSM-5-TR, have knowledge of basic word processing skills, and the ability to maintain records in a thorough and timely fashion using an electronic health record. Maintenance of professional licensure is also required.
    • Demonstrate the ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team while adhering to standards of confidentiality, have skills in case presentation and consultation, have the ability to give and receive feedback, have an awareness of multiple professional roles in mental health care, be familiar with campus and community resources, and have the ability to serve as a staff and student training resource.
    • Demonstrate the ability to present in an engaging manner on a wide range of psychological topics to UM students to help educate them on relevant and important issues that impact their lives.
    • Demonstrate a general knowledge of and skill in the operation of personal computer and related software (electronic health record, MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), photocopier, fax, and multi-line phone system.

     

    Minimum Required Experience

    • This position requires a master’s degree in counseling or social work.

    • Curry Health Center (CHC) strongly encourages all employees to be current with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations on immunizations for Health Care Worker (HCW). This will ensure a safe work environment for our employees as well as our patients. The employees who have not been vaccinated will not be able to work if an outbreak occurs.

     

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working at a college counseling center.
    • Montana license or license eligible in the state of Montana.
    • Experience addressing substance use disorders.
    • Experience with behavioral health integration in primary health care settings.
    • Clinical supervisory experience.

    Position Details

     

    POSITION TITLE:                    COUNSELOR (PSYCHOLOGY SPECIALIST)

    POSITION NUMBER:              920S10

    DEPARTMENT:                       Curry Health Center - Counseling Service

    WORK SCHEDULE:                 Part-time, .5 -1 FTE (20-40 hours/week) During the Fall and Spring Semester only. This position does not work when school is not in session, i.e. spring break, winter holiday break, etc.

    SALARY:                               $29/HR - $35/HR 

    UNION AFFILIATION:               Montana Federation of Public Employees (MFPE)

    PROBATIONARY PERIOD:        Six months minimum

    BENEFITS INCLUDE:               Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, and wellness program.
