The Center for Innovative Pharmacy Education and Research (CIPhER). Founded in 2017, CIPhERs mission focuses broadly on improving the practice of pharmacy education and the quality and impact of research and scholarship on pharmacy education by coordinating and fostering the efforts of the Schools faculty, clinical preceptors, postgraduate fellows, residents and teaching assistants. CIPhER aims to help faculty and others to more effectively: teach, assess and promote student learning; produce peer-reviewed publications and compete for grants; and generate income by commercializing education-related products such as surveys, inventories, tests, teaching materials, online instruction (e.g., MOOCs), and digital applications. CIPhER sponsors certificate offerings, contributes to continuing professional education, offers onsite and online training workshops and seminars, and coordinates relevant, mutually beneficial efforts with entities such as the UNC Center for Faculty Excellence, other UNC health science schools, the UNC School of Education, ACPE , ACCP , and the PharmAlliance. To support, facilitate, and advance this work, we are seeking to hire up to three (3) highly qualified summer interns. The selected candidate(s) will receive an 8-week appointment as an intern. The internships will provide exposure and mentored experience across a wide range of educational research activities supporting CIPhERs core mission, including study design, data collection, data analysis, and academic writing. The anticipated appointment will be from June 3, 2019 to July 31, 2019, although start and end dates can be adjusted based on Center and intern needs. Education and Experience To be considered, applicants should be enrolled and in good standing in a Doctor of Pharmacy degree program or a Bachelor of Science degree program in statistics, applied math, education, or related field of study. Applicants should also demonstrate: (1) an interest in data science for education research, assessment and evaluation; (2) skill in thinking critically and challenging the status quo to arrive at solutions with the greatest potential for impact; (3) communicating and collaborating effectively; and (4) prioritizing and managing multiple concurrent responsibilities and activities.
