Essential Functions Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values; adheres to hospital policies including confidentiality; assists with the orientation of new employees; utilizes proper body mechanics when moving equipment and or supplies that are necessary to perform essential functions; reports broken or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor or department head; visits newly admitted inpatient and observation patients to discuss the USA Patient Portal; maintains adequate supply of items necessary to perform essential job functions; completes the "Opt In" or "Opt Out" paperwork for each patient visit and updates the Invision System to reflect the patient's selection; secures patient's signature stating whether the patient has "Opted In" or "Opted Out" of the patient portal access and repeats this process for each patient visit; instructs patients who "Opt In" how to access their information in the USA Patient Portal (portal provisioning), to include supplying the patient with information, education and training on how to use the Portal; once the "portal provisioning" is complete, activates the provisioning flag in the Invision System; assists patients who do not have an email address to establish an email account with a no-cost email provider; serves as primary resource for the 'Patient Portal Helpline," assisting patients who have questions after discharges; reviews and manages email submitted patient questions concerning the USA Patient Portal; monitors access to the portal to determine how many patients are utilizing the system; encourages patients to use the portal by logging in and reviewing their records; assists patients who wish to enroll in the USA Patient Portal after discharge; performs medical record quality assurance functions as required by department manager; provides backup to Patient Portal Representatives at any USA Hospital during staffing shortages; assists the research of information supervisor in processing requests for patient information, as workload permits; communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physician, patients, families, healthcare team and staff in person and via telephone; responds to overhead pages; completes all mandatory unit, education and hospital requirements; utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent and two years general clerical experience, one of which was in medical records. Excellent communication, computer and customer service skills are required. Working Days and Hours Monday - Friday with rotating weekends 8:00 a.m.
